Yenga Re-commitsModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Yenga Re-commitsI agree with Dutch. Draw the line in the sand; an SMU offer is a privilege. I understand that it is a big step for the younger Yenga, and frankly for any 18 yr old, but these recruits should play it close to their chest until they know..

Re: Yenga Re-commitsBrother was most overrated player on team anyway....
Re: Yenga Re-commitsHopefully we recruit a DB with this scholarship. Yenga would not have started for at least a couple of years.
Re: Yenga Re-commitsI think its fair to question JJ on clock management and field decisions, but on recruiting matters i would say leave it to JJ. He is not gonna let a kid yank him around. No need to trash kids here.
Re: Yenga Re-commitsNormally I would agree 100% with you, but these are self inflicted wounds. He likes the publicity, personally notifies the "for pay" sites, readily gives interviews and they post his picture and create a headline article for a couple of days. He isn't true to his commitments and certainly not faithful to his own explainations (family, church, etc.).
Re: Yenga Re-commitsRivals reporting that he plans to sign with Arizona when he makes his first and only visit...
Re: Yenga Re-commitsI tell ya..go read what he said when he re committed , then read what he says now.
Re: Yenga Re-commitsYouri, you need to step up and smack your brother in the mouth for this type of behavior.
I'm all for exploring your options as a prospect, its a big decision. But don't flat out lie (twice!), say its important for you to be close to home, church, your choir (really Yenga?) and then the very next day say that youre visiting Arizona and, if they offer, you will go there. Obviously, younger Yenga has the "its all about me" attitude and personally, i don't want him on the team with that cancerous, T.O.-type team-killing bullshlt. You are not Jadeveon Clowney dude! You are a 3 star LB prospect. Good player? yes. On the college level? We will see, but I don't think he will succeed with that attitude.

by lwjr » Sat Jan 01, 2011 11:53 pm 'kid like that, possible red flag. When he signs I will be glad" Sorta like the guy in the room who will shake your hand and say hello to you, but he is looking over your shoulder for someone more important. Also reminds me a little bit of the Ryan Perilloux situation of a few years ago. Anyway, tell him thanks but no thanks, good luck at Arizona or wherever he ends up going. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Yenga Re-commitswe need to cut bait with this guy. there's no room for this "look at me" crap on our team.
Derail the Frogs!
Re: Yenga Re-commitsespecially when it's your choice as to whether you are going to be here or not.
youri, thanks for your play here the last 4 years. Derail the Frogs!
Re: Yenga Re-commitsSay adios to this wishy washy little fairy. I want kids that want to be here.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Yenga Re-commitsI just checked his page. He's taking an official visit to Arizona and plans on signing with them?
I might be missing something, but that's going to be a little hard since his page reflects to no offer from Arizona. Maybe Arizona offers him while he's out there but my take is he's a backburner guy for AZ. They want to look at him and see if he's worth the offer should one of their first choices go elsewhere or something else happens. I bet if you scoured through all of the commitment lists of kids there are some who are committed to a school but are taking visits elsewhere. Just happens.
Re: Yenga Re-commitsI'd look to offer for a position like DB and be done with Yenga 2.
I'd like some big and strong, fast and physical corners with intelligence on and off the field who want to play for SMU to get the scholarships.
