I've been biting my tongue on this... So I wonder how long it will take you guys to connect the dots between this and the truth behind the black jerseys?

True, but there's not that much tradition in TCU or Oregon uniforms. If there is, it's hideous.

Is it stupid? Hell yes, but we can't ignore it. The answer may not be Nike, but we should demand more out of whoever out partners are and try to find the ones with buzz.

You think local high school football players walking into this football shrine, this Nike football shrine, that is displaying TCU crap with the Floridas, Ohio States and Oregons of the world is a non factor? You think high school coaches getting a private talk from Fatterson is a non factor?

This is not a non factor. It's another validation that SMU is not big time.

That's what I said-you want to pull out the Top 25 programs in the country and compare?

Good and valid point, but it wasn't attention grabbing. Every sportswriter in the country had a take on the TCU albatross, I think one obscure ESPN blogger took note of our unis.

Is your point that the uniform makes a winner? Because that is not my contention.

He's right about this....we had some bad unis for a couple decades when I was growing up.

And thanks to whoever said that the TCU folks were welcome here. I read the TCU board a lot but there is more time I need to fill during the week so I frequent this site too!

My point is the best programs in the Country wear traditional uniforms and TCU fans wished they did. Oregon=Nike and all the money he has thrown into the program. In fact I bet if you took the bottom 20 teams you'd find a bunch of tricked up uniforms that suck

My point is NOT that a Nike uniform makes a winner, but for arguements sake to Stallions challenge above, here are the teams in the top 25 that have the "pro combat"/tricked up uniforms from Nike.

2. Oregon
3. TCU
6. Ohio State
10. Boise State
13. Virginia Tech
16. Alabama
22. West Virginia

Other schools that have or had the pro combat uniforms include: Texas, Florida, Miami, Oregon State, UT, OU, LSU

Man I watch a lot of college Football but if you think Ohio St, Texas, OU, LSU and Alabama regularly wear or will ever regularly wear tricked up uniforms like that crap Oregon and TCU wear then I'd say you must not be much of a football fan

I think his point is that a lot of quality teams have partnered with Nike....maybe SMU should have the foresight to see the types of marketing opportunities that are available to them. The uniforms are just one aspect in the equation and serve to illustrate the lack of foresight demonstrated by the SMU athletic department and administration.
