I didn't say any of that. I just pointed out they have at one point or do currently wear them. Besides Oregon, I believe all the teams wear them once a year or only for big games. I will say that with the exception of TCU, Oregon, Boise and maybe one or two others the "pro combats" are more consistent with the team's normal uniform, i.e. classic look. I'd be interested in seeing what Nike did with our classic look and from which era they would choose. Again, you keep on acting like I'm campaigning for an ugly TCU like uniform, when in fact I'm asking SMU to align itself with partners that will help further the program. You are mostly dead on in your analysis on how TCU got to where they are, but you seem to be ignoring other aspects such as their affiliation with Nike and somehow being anointed an underdog project for Nike. The pub they have received the past few years with those ugly unis was worth a large sum. I don't know why you feel the need to swing your [deleted] about how much college football you watch. I watch a lot of college football, but I couldn't and don't care to quantify how much I watch. If it makes you feel better, go ahead and chalk that up as a victory for yourself.

Orsini needs to step up his efforts to find the necessary money that will allow him to bring back the athletics marketing department staff to an acceptable level. That has to happen before SMU can even begin to strategize on how to generate any sort of viral online excitement with the student body, donors, alumni or buzz with the local casual fan, much less build mindshare that extends beyond the Hilltop bubble. Can't generate jackshijt without the proper personnel who can quickly and effectively analyze and identify the hot affiliation trends or alignment opportunities before they are snapped up by rivals.
Don't worry. Be Happy. Or not.

Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas have special combat uniforms. Texas is the closest to its regular uni. The others are different. Nike is the best in the business. Adidas sucks and Under Armour is overrated.

I'd be far more OK with a special one-time uniform that is WAY out there than with a perversion of our classic uniforms.
Simply turning our uniforms black and white feels more like ruining something great, whereas something WAY WAY out there is just a publicity stunt.

For combat - why don't we just use our 'exact' 80's uni's and/or our 40's?
Something tells me these are all trends that will soon be passing - very soon.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

That maybe true but from grade school to high school UA is one of the hottest brands out there. The kids can't buy enough of UA clothes.

It seems Nike is promoting and outfitting the TOP teams that wear their gear. I don't think that if SMU wore Nike that we'd be included in all this Pro-Combat craziness. The only two non-AQ teams I've heard any major buzz about with regards to uniforms are TCU and Boise St. I do agree that Nike is obviously a marketing juggernaut and that swoosh is more than just the tag on the jersey, but I feel we aren't in any position (yet) to be a benchmark program when it comes to promotions like this. Let's not forget that just 3 years ago, we DID wear Nike, and we had some pretty ugly, non-traditional uniforms. And before that we had dark navy jerseys with red outlining the neck and arm holes...nothing special. Finally, we aren't in bad company when you consider the other Adidas schools: Notre Dame, Tennessee, Wisconsin, UCLA, and some school in College Station. It's not like we are the only school without Nike uniforms.

Under Armour is too urban of a brand for a school like SMU.

At least the colors were closer to the "Official SMU Colors" than what we wear now.

Eh, to each his own, but the red = red and Pony Express Blue is by far better than dark navy blue. It may be Yale's color but I like the lighter shade of blue.

Isn't this the exact reason we need them...
