Men's SwimmingI was looking at relay times in USA Swimming and found that TCU's Men's Swimming team had better relay times than we did to date. When did TCU learn how to swim?

Re: Men's SwimmingI recall very well the days of our swim team being unbeatable in the SWC and always in the top 5 nationally. All American and Olympic stars. Then UT got tired of our winning streak in the SWC they diverted some of their funds to upgrade their program. Somewhere along the line we just faded into the background and let Texas take over. Sadly the facilities that allowed us to win all those championships are the same ones we have today. The natatorium was in questionable shape in 1972 and it has not changed since then. People talk about lack of coverage in the DMN. They covered our championship swim teams very well. I miss our championship swim team and wish we could find a donor to be the lead in upgrading the facilities. No it is not a revenue generator but it was a great sense of pride for many many years.

Re: Men's SwimmingAgreed. I remember the days when we were so good that coach Mac would schedule three meets at the same time (UH, Rice and TCU)- one home and two away. Divide his team in three and we'd still win all three meets handily. Those were the days my friend.

Re: Men's SwimmingWe used to annihilate TCU and schools like that.
This is due, at least in part, to facilities. Perkins Natatorium is an antiquated barn. Yes, it has water and it's the same length as pools at other schools, but as everyone knows, part of what attracts recruits if facilities. That Coach Sinnott, Coach Collins and Coach Stillson (diving) can get any recruits is a tribute to how good they are, but the athletic department has to move the swimming and diving facilities into the 20th century, if not the 21st.
Re: Men's SwimmingHaving seens TCU swim facility this past weekend, its not that great either...
If we had a new facility we could dominate swimming...I have been to a lot of swim complexs the past 2 years and none are that great, with exception of the naval academy... I hope it happens, but in the mean time we are going to have to figure out a way to dominate without it...
Re: Men's SwimmingI'd go with longer than two years
Re: Men's Swimming
Yeah. I think it is of the radar for now but I could be wrong. Everything right now is revolving around getting into an AQ conference and I do not think the road there goes through the pool. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Men's SwimmingI like the sound of the sentence starting with 'everything'
