Offical National Championship GameModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Offical National Championship GameI thought it was a very poorly played game.
Re: Offical National Championship GameThe 36 day layoff is a joke! Death to the BCS!
Re: Offical National Championship Game
It was like watching a game from Labor Day Weekend. Just terrible. "smupony94: Harry, you have been promoted to purveyor of official status capabilities."
Re: Offical National Championship GameThis entire thread is mistitled. The NCAA recognizes no no official national championship game at the FBS level. The BCS calling its title winner the "national champion" is merely a marketing ploy. That's why it's called a Mythical National Championship (MNC).

Offical National Championship Game
It doesn't say it's the NCAA NC. Spoken like a true frog. Derail the Frogs!

All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Offical National Championship Game
It's call the BCS National Championship Game which is why a non-BCS team will never be allowed in that game...IMHO. SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Offical National Championship GameMavericks owner Mark Cuban: Oregon and TCU 'were not opposed' to playing for the national title had the Ducks defeated Auburn
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban continues to keep his name connected with college football. The opinionated Cuban released a blog post on Tuesday centered on the sport and its national championship game. He wrote that a week before Auburn played Oregon for the BCS National Championship, he and his staff inquired about Oregon playing TCU if the Ducks knocked off the Tigers. Cuban pointed out that following the title game, Oregon would only have played 13 games, same as the Horned Frogs. The championship contest was game No. 14 for Auburn. "The schools, on an off the record basis, were not opposed to it," Cuban wrote. "They didn't come out and agree to it, but they certainly were not opposed to the idea. The problem? It wasn't money. The problem was that when we asked anyone who could know whether or not the NCAA would approve another game , a +plus one playoff game, the response was unanimous, and I'm paraphrasing here "There is no way in hell the NCAA would approve a +1 playoff game between any two teams. There is no way TCU vs anyone could happen." Cuban added: "We projected that there would be about $50mm available to the schools. But it wasn't a question of money. It was a question of yes or no from the NCAA. We decided it was better not to actually pop the question to the NCAA. We decided to rethink the question of whether or not there should be a BCS playoff." Cuban continues to explore ways to implement a playoff system in college football.
