The Climb is a great marketing tool. those of you who say we don't do anything for marketing, now is your chance to defend that statement.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great no question -- but we could also hire a marketing team for what we've paid for it and help get butts in seats.

If you spend $275,000 on a TV show and A) it doesn't have your name in the title and B) not even your diehard fans know when it will air, is it really marketing?

It was a well-produced show. I liked the behind-the-scenes stuff and getting to know the players and coaches -that's the stuff recruits are going to want to know. Yes, it was a sanitized version of our bowl game (and other losses) but that's OK. Most people watching the show already know what happened in the games.

Overall it was a very professional-looking show and presented SMU in a very positive light. I just wonder, with random showings and it just being called "The Climb" in the TV listings, if it really reached the audience for which it was intended?

Just watched.

In the beginning, there is a clip from Billey Bobs where June receives and wears a cowboy hat.

Any chance he wears one on the sidelines? Maybe a wager with the players - beat ATM, I wear a cowboy hat.

I've gotten quite a few calls and emails from non smu fans who have watched the climb and were very impressed with the production. It got a few to join me on the boulevard. And one of my tcu friends has been following Zach line all season emailing me after games to talk about his play

I think it is great. It is a coach's show in a unique format. If it were called the June Jones Show, or SMU football, only the 1500 would most likely tune in. By calling it The Climb and having it in an action format, I think the chances of attracting outside viewership is greater. I may not be interested in watching a weekly update of the New York Jets, but I might tune into a show about football called Hard Knocks, and become a viewer if it interests me. Just a thought.

Agreed mrydel. It's all about the production. They do way beyond a coaches q&a which makes it interesting.

And the narration gives it a very NFL films feel.

Welcome! -- ignore most of us on here :)

Just watched it -- man, I am tired of hearing how we outgained the other team in yardage or other stats. Just didn't get it done this year when we needed to. I don't even recall them showing the missed FG's but I was skipping through it quickly.

I am glad we had the show on this year but hope that is it and it's done with. We can use $275k or whatever for other things. Ponyscott (or whatever your name is now) wins for most appearances that I recognize. OTP is 2nd.

They owe me appearence fees for sure.....I will watch the Bowl edition but am still burned by the loss to Army....should NEVER have happened.
