Yenga's back and forth commitments with SMU reminds me of the old Miller LIte commercials with George Steinbrenner and Billy Martin.

George: Billy, your fired
Martin: Not again, George.

Yenga is like the first year guy a fraternity Hot Rushes during first semester that gets blackballed when too many brothers are overexposed to the kid BEFORE rush starts. Same guy would sail through if he pledged during Rush. Yenga is trying to be helpful to recruiting services but he is OVEREXPOSED with the media

hasn't committed anywhere besides smu but he has decommitted or lowered his level of commitment with explicit interest in baylor and arizona. guess the guy is trying to be a little too honest with the media guys.

What is the record for the number of different schools a kid has committed to before signing day?

How many schools did Gone-A-Way commit to?

I've never heard of more than 4 commitments to different teams in 1 year-these guys were in that exclusive club in the crazy 80s-not coincidentally both were involved with violations that resulted in severe NCAA probations. I believe Hart Lee Dykes helped get multiple teams on probation. :

Ronald Morris SMU

Wasn't Morris the recruit that surprised the newpaper writer in Pony Excess with the line "things change"

I'm just going off this discussion - but I suspect that if the AZ and KU coaches heard that he was going 'just for fun' I think they wouldn't be too keen on getting that plane ticket out too him - unless they're desperate and think they can sway him.

I think their egos, and the fact that he's just committed to SMU, a non AQ team, make them believe they can sway him.

As I've said b4, I don't think Yenga has handled this very well. But I'm sobered by the fact that he's 17 or 18.

Depending on their upbringing and background, some kids have the maturity to handle this. Some are overwhelmed by it.

I'm sure Trinity coach Steve Lineweaver is one of those guys who does the right thing. He can help the kids with all of the information and give them what they need. However, the decision is going to come between the kid and his family. From there, you just cross your fingers and hope he's getting the guidance he needs.

I'm sure a lot of us sought input from our parents about just WHERE to go to college.

Food for thought.

His biggest problem is that he trying to be helphul to the recruiting services by relaying every thought that crosses his mind. The Twitter generation

Having a mental filter should be a part of that twitting generation
