I didn't follow SMU Football as closely when PB was here. But the above comment could reference what JJ said during the first year, (Paraphrasing) "He couldn't believe that the kids were that broken mentally. In every game they kept waiting for something to go wrong"

If PB is a good DC, as so many say, then why did the defense regress so much after he took over as head coach?

Because he was not defensive coordinator. And then add back
in our lack of ability to sign athletes under the same criteria as our competition.

Even more of an SMU connection at Baylor...after Bennett hired Gush as LB coach, Joey Sturdivant has now been hired as a GA on the defensive side.

Gush screams and cusses more than Bennett, 2 peas in a pod. Joe Stu was always the smartest player on the field. I wish them well.

I think Mason's done a pretty darn good job with what he has to work with.

I didn't watch Pitt's defense or any of their games for that matter. He does keep getting jobs so he's respected obviously. Wannestead is a defense guy too.

To say the least PF. I dont think you'll see anyone on here that has a problem with Tom Mason's D. I for one am really happy with the D, and with our DE/OLB recruits coming in, look for the pass rush to only get nastier
