When he pulled Jfrog ( I hate that name but too hard to spell the real one out), he gave him a stern talking to when he came to the bench and that was it. I can understand that. Whether or not he left him out too long, my basketball acumen does not allow me to make that call.

This is a circular discussion. When I was coming on a regular basis for Doherty's first three years, he was doing it. I gave him a pass for the first two years because I thought he was going to toughen the kids. By the third year, I just thought this was ridiculous.

Based on the comments on this, it sounds like nothing has changed.

honestly, I'm more interested if things have changed behind closed doors. He was abusive early, but last year he coddled some soft kids(McCoy) and gave them every opportunity, almost to a fault. It's hard to imagine him signing all these locals, w/o changing his demeanor off the court and in practice, at least somewhat. Locals and AAU types knew the rep, so you'd think something must have changed to get them to listen. Just not sure. I know he was told, at some point last year, that wins & losses weren't as important to his job security, as keeping his demeanor in check. Also, not throwing kids under a bus in the media. An example that I can think of, just this year, is Haynes. Doherty could kill the kid in the press, but has been pretty diplomatic. Haynes has been God awful, and it's really disappointing to all involved, yet they've kept their displeasure pretty well hidden

really wish someone had a picture of Doh completely leaving the ground, nearly kicking his heels together, in response to Mangrum's second interference. Doh's still got hops as well. Kind of a Rumplestiltskin moment

But it was interference. I had a perfect angle. Ball looked like it was getting ready to roll off the rim and just as he went up it dip back toward the basket. I think he actually made a very good play on a quirky type of roll.

I agree w/ you, it was...Doh's heel click was directed at Mangrum, not the officials

Well I hope it was in disappointment and not anger. It was almost a very big play in our favor.

Mangrum is supposed to release down the court on D is why Doh was having a fit. Doh mentioned after the Memphis game that Mangrum really shouldnt have tipped in that shot and said he was going to talk to him about it after the game...tongue in cheek, but he still wants him to release on D.
The benefits of him back on D vs. maybe once in a while tip back and maybe picking up a needless back court foul ( especially when they are shorthanded) I guess is his coaching choice. Mangrum is just relying on old instincts is all that is.

Mangrum should continue to ignore him. with his jumping ability and timing he is much more useful getting up for an offensive rebound or tip then running back on D. He is a senior and doesn't need doh's help knowing when he should do that or not.

I think Doh was justifiably unhappy at him for trying the tip in when he already had an interference call in the game.

This team is much better with Mangrum on the floor. I am pretty hopeful for many of remaining games if he continues to overweight playing time to the starters.

"White men can't jump" does not apply here :) He has some hops
