Jan. 17, 2011

SMU senior Papa Dia was named the C-USA Player of the Week by voting from a media panel covering the 12 conference schools. Dia averaged a double-double in a pair of conference games against Memphis and Houston.

Dia averaged 22.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.0 blocks, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals in games against Memphis and Houston. Dia had double-doubles in both games as he hit 60 percent from the floor (15-25) and 83.3 percent on free throws (15-18). Against Houston, he scored 23 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked a career-high seven shots. The seven blocks was also an SMU record in a C-USA game. In Wednesday's 64-58 win against Memphis, he had 22 points and 10 rebounds. Dia also hit 5-of-6 free throws and grabbed two rebounds in the final 32 seconds to help seal the victory. This is his second C-USA Player of the Week honor this season and for his career.

He's having a great year. hopefully, he makes enough of impression to get paid to play somewhere next year. He should have a decent pro career, probably in europe
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

Or Asia! China/Japan/South Korea all pay their players extremely well.

Papa has had a great career (excluding soph. year), and he should be rewarded by playing professionally somewhere.
