Wideout Third Mustang In Three Seasons Chosen For All-Star Contest

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU wide receiver Aldrick Robinson will play in this weekend's 86th East-West Shrine Game, on Jan. 22 at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla.

Robinson, who will play for the West Team, joins an elite list of football greats, such as John Elway, Tom Brady, Brett Favre and 62 NFL Hall of Famers who have played in the East-West Shrine Game, America's longest-running college all-star football game.

Robinson is coming off a season which saw him catch a school-record 14 TDs and notch 1,301 receiving yards, second-most ever in a season at SMU. The Waxahachie, Texas, native, also finished the 2010 season with touchdown grabs in a school-record eight straight games.

Robinson is the third Mustang to play in the East-West Shrine Game in three years, joining current New Orleans Saint punter Thomas Morstead (2009) and current Pittsburgh Steeler wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders (2010).

Each team is led by a current or former NFL coach and staff; this year's coaches are Dan Reeves and Wade Phillips. Past coaches have included Gene Stallings, Bobby Ross, Don Shula, Romeo Crennel and Marty Schottenheimer.

This will mark the first of two all-star games for Robinson, who will also participate in the NFL Players Association Game at the Alamodome on Saturday, Feb. 5.

The game kicks off at 3 p.m. CT.
