There's a story on rivals that says (in the headline) that decision time might be looming for the Richardson (Berkner) DT. Anyone know what the article says? We're listed on his list of possible schools, but does that mean we're still in the running?

he's narrowed his list to BYU, Baylor and Houston-SMU apparently is not in the running.

The kid would consider byu, cougar high, and baylor, but not SMU? Good lordy. I know we are having it tough, but come on. provo over Dallas? Can't we keep the kids in the 300 mile radius more interested?

Hope the coaches don't give up. Not on anyone.

BYU has first class facilities including an indoor facility, play in front of 65,000 regardless of whether they are winning and a winning tradition..Plus if you are from the metroplex and perhaps never been out of state, i can see how visiting Provo in the summer would be a pretty cool deal..Coaches should remind him that you cant drink or have *&^ while youre there, and that means anywhere..4 years is a long time to wait for certain things, ya know!

Rivals now indicates that SMU is back in the picture although he's looking at about 8 schools which have offered(see above). SMU and Baylor would be the alternatives if he decided to stay close to home. He will take another "unofficial" to SMU since he lives only about 10 minutes from the campus.

arlington, you should get out more too. Provo is not wonderland in the summer, or any time in particular. (I know as I've spent some time in those parts.) No matter how you slice it, byu is no mans land unless you are a mormon.

We ought to be in the lead for this kid over a byu or baylor.

Getting Bryant would be enormous, and not just because of his size. For a big kid, he's strong and quick. He's a real player.

A teammate from Berkner named Mathis is at BYU.

Interesting story on BYU tonight on ESPN's Outside the Lines with Jeremy Schaap. Rape allegations similar to CU's are going on at BYU where a group of players are accused of raping a 17 year old girl on Aug. 8th. An episode similar to this one took place months earlier but that girl later changed her story and said it was consensual. Even though criminal charges were dropped, some players were expelled from school because it violated BYU's Honor Code which prohibits premarital sex. A starting RB from a few years ago was expelled for violating the premarital sex rules.

There is a very strict code of behavior there which also prohibits students from using tobacco or drinking tea or sodas that contain caffeine. They had a couple of former BYU players on, Vai Sikahema and Chad Lewis and they talked about how former coach Lavelle Edwards would take care of minor honor code violations himself, although Jim MacMahon seemed to be able to do whatever the hell he wanted like chew smokless tobacco and whatever else he was doing at the time...

I heard that he and about 4 other Texas recruits are likely to commit to Arizona some as early as today. It was a little unclear about Bryant but a first hand report from a recruit that was there suggested he might be committing to Arizona.
