Re: 1/21/11 SMU still top 50, #1 in CUSA
I doubt it, at least not on the Rivals ranking. They are all 3-stars and I do not think any of them rank high enough to provide bonus points (i.e. only top 40 CB's get bonus points) so they will not change the make up of our top 20 recruits: 1 4-star and 19 3-stars.
Re: 1/21/11 SMU still top 50, #1 in CUSAI take that partially back. I just checked it looks like you get points for JUCO top 50, so it is possible we could get bonus points.
Re: 1/21/11 SMU still top 50, #1 in CUSABoom Goes the dynamite...
Re: 1/21/11 SMU still top 50, #1 in CUSAIt looks like OLM Miles Mason is the only JUCO we are looking at right now ranked among the Top 50 JUCOs. Mason is at No. 48. I said when we were at 39 that is likely we would eventually fall into the Top 50 range. Its hard to tell because for the first year they only list 1-50 but I think now it is more likely we fall a little bit more-maybe 53 or so - some schools have not filled up their classes and the potential of improving their score even under Wuba's expert statistical analysis is greater.

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: 1/21/11 SMU still top 50, #1 in CUSA
Yeah, Mason was the one I was referring to. I agree we will likely drop in the rankings even as our points stay the same.
Re: 1/21/11 SMU still top 50, #1 in CUSARankings be damned...this 2011 recruiting class is the best in our respective SMU lifetimes. You can't even compare the classes from the early 80's because at the time SMU was in an equivalent BCS type conference....for SMU , a non BCS school to have this type of recruiting class is off the chart. This class of athletes that SMU will sign in two weeks is a long time game changer...
The same goes for the basketball recruits coming in.... Now we need to put the butts in the seats...how do we recruit the fans??? Can we get a Top 40 fan base?
Re: 1/21/11 SMU still top 50, #1 in CUSA
I agree! We need to strive to be one of the top 5 privates in attendance and top 5 non-aq's in attendance!
Re: 1/21/11 SMU still top 50, #1 in CUSAWell maybe Top 10-15 in privates.....doubt we can rank with the USC, Notre Dames, BYU's, Vanderbilts etc of the world when they also bring in the bring fan base from BCS schools.
Re: 1/21/11 SMU still top 50, #1 in CUSAjust win baby...the fans will come. When it becomes the cool thing to do in Dallas on a saturday to go to an SMU game, even for non-alums, we will be where we need to be.
Re: 1/21/11 SMU still top 50, #1 in CUSAWe need to start with our students. Get them to come. From my own (children) students, they claim that this years junior and senior class were lost causes. Winning will change this. I would imagine that the TCU game gave many of our underclassman an opportunity to see the posibility. One day soon we will upset someone like this at our own stadium and the students will be "hooked" like we were.
We have had over 20 years of losing and quite frankly "lip service" from a university that claimed we wanted to be competitive. Those people made a mistake with the hiring of Orsini and then Jones...well, guess what? the Geni is out of the bottle and we won't be fooled again by "The Commitment".
