MWC Expansion: Utah State and SJSU

Per Dennis Dodds over on twitter, MWC voting to expand and include Utah State and SJSU. Dodds makes the interesting point that it was five years ago that SJSU had a referendum and almost dropped FB. Are they really a building block you want for your conference? Did the MWC swing and miss on Houston, SMU, and UTEP?

I guess that is good news for CUSA as we would likely become the strongest non-aq.

agree w/ mustangxc...who would have thought that the CUSA would remain so stable?

And damn, just when you thought it couldnt get any worse for the WAC..

I suspect La. Tech and NMSU are begging CUSA, "Please let us in. We'll give you our first born. We'll forfeit any monies from the conference for 5 years. Please, please, please." Otherwise, they'll then have to beg the Sun Belt to let them in.

SJSU- the school SMU beat to break its longest losing streak in history. The game wasn't even very competitive.

Poor WAC. They've had Boise and Hawaii represent them in BCS bowls and now they're on the verge of extinction.

Boise must feel like they've joined the WAC 2.0 right now also.

IMO, the only solution for both CUSA and MWC is some kind of merger. CUSA has all the leverage at this point.

Actually I think Boise is a good idea but I doubt they would leave.

I can kinda understand Utah State - decent FB and have had some pretty solid hoops recently (I think). SJSU brings absolutely nothing to the table...that one make no sense at all.

Fresno and SDSU may have helped SJSU's cause. And I'll bet SJSU was their third or fourth choice to go along w/ Utah St after Houston, UTEP and/or SMU.
