Re: UCF to Big East...?anyone had TCU sloppy seconds?
Re: UCF to Big East...?
Which is also what they did to Boise St. more recently. Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!
Re: UCF to Big East...?I just totally disagree with the "TCU would black ball us" argument.
TCU would blackball us in the past in the same way I would hope we would blackball Rice, Tulane, and NTSU. These schools, and us previously, don't try to win. They are dead weight. They have no potential and are not headed up. On the other hand, TCU knows we are on the way up and are now trying to win. They also know they need a strong rivalry with us to boost their presence in the DFW media market. A successful rival in SMU can only help TCU and their conference. We are balls deep in Texas. There are plenty of recruits to go around.
That's a very rational response. Rivalries are anything but rational! ![]() TCU to their credit did not blackball us when CUSA came calling (but then they left the conference right after voting to admit us).
Asside from some fans popping off (we all have them), there is no "Blackball" regarding SMU by TCU. SMU to the BE Would be good for both of us. UH is marginal. They are a large State School and their fanbase, with a pretty good run over the last 5-6 years and a dynamic QB , remains more apathetic than either of ours. This is not attendence smack but, we wouldnt be heading to the BE if we were drawing 23k. That has to pick up and probably will with continued winning. I think it is interesting that the MWC has backed off expansion at the same time rumors have heated up regarding conversations between KU, MU, KSU and the BE. If something shakes there, there will be more attractive prosect for MWC than SJSUand USU. Good times. Unless your are Baylor or ISU.
Re: UCF to Big East...?My understanding is that at this point, UH is way more involved with Big East talks than we are. They are a lot closer to it, assuming their stadium deal comes through...
Re: UCF to Big East...?If Houston bolts for the Big East that is VERY bad for SMU.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: UCF to Big East...?Well Houston aint getting enough money for a stadium, and there are no real talks with them to go Big East.

UPDATE: Iliana Limon of the Orlando Sentinel has a couple of notes on the possible Central Florida-to-the-Big East move: 1) Multiple sources have told her that the conference does not require a unanimous vote to add a new member, which means that South Florida's objections, by themselves, won't be enough to destroy UCF's candidacy. 2) Limon hears that the Big East will make a decision by March 1, which would certainly gibe with commissioner John Marinatto's comments that the league is not waiting for Villanova's April decision.
Re: UCF to Big East...?the comish in the Big East has more power than a lot of the other ones...he's more of a ceo than any other conf comish

Re: UCF to Big East...?within the next month we may learn that UCF will be gone in either 2012 or 2013.
So...who takes their place? F_U? Troy? NTSU? LaTech? NM St? I would think it needs to be someone in the east, unless they move Tulane to the east and bring on a team from the west

FIU or FAU? "There ain't nothing you can't solve with one more beer"
Re: UCF to Big East...?go persuade Navy to rejoin...
Re: UCF to Big East...?
probably June's choice
Re: UCF to Big East...?Rather stay at 11 than take some garbage team. All the conference champ game does is ensure one of our teams will have a worse record.

Re: UCF to Big East...?I agree w/ couch'em. Just stay at 11. No need to water down just to get to 12.
