Fear the Fightin' Dohertys

Really?

I have to give credit where credit is due be it his alleged personality rehab, trusting these new assistants and so on.

Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel -- a long tunnel -- but still.

Got news, Doh will be an absolute force on the trail w/a few wins at his back, an overachieving team, Dallas kids in the program, and a resurgent fan base. I'm starting to believe '12 is going to be a nasty recruiting year.

Re: SMU men's basketbal = Euphoria

I am not a basketball fan. I don’t watch the NBA. Rarely watch March Madness (unless mrydel is offering free tickets). And I haven't followed SMU BB in a very long time.

That said, this has been a pleasant surprise and enjoyable. I understand that this team has some issues with talent on the floor at times. I understand that coaching has been a subject of controversy in recent times.

That said, from what I have seen, this team plays hard. They hustle the entire game. Effort goes a long way. They appear to understand their offensive and defensive schemes and executes those schemes. They appear prepared for their opponents.

I like the Princeton offense and have seems I first saw it run by Princeton so many years ago. This team hasn’t achieve the level of execution that Princeton achieved but SMU appears to execute it better every time I see them play.

I wouldn’t call my feelings euphoric but I will say as a former non fan, I am being won over.

that's what turning a program around is all about, capturing the non-diehards. SMU basketball had me at hello, but that was going to be the case no matter what. It's grabbing the interest of fellas like you, that start a wave of momentum.

We had the Moody Boulevard conversation a few years back and I think Bus and Professor X rolled out the RV a time or two. I'm all over some bball tailgating. If only they'd let us light a trashcan fire or two.

Keep meeting at Milo's - it has been good luck.

Team and fans are in transition. Used to need a drink after the game, now want a drink before.

Looks like I picked the wrong year to not renew my season tickets.

the perfect storm is brewing; give credit to JJ and his resurrection of the football program and the marketing genius that brought us "Pony Excess" with such good timing. SMU is back on the map and hoops is going to benefit from that.
