Re: UCF to Big East...?Probably La. Tech, they were close last time and I think Tulane, Rice, SMU and Tulsa kind of feel bad for them. They fit the footprint and could easily replace Houston. Have to keep at 12 to keep the Fox $$$$. I am sure that ECU would beg for Navy, Temple or MTSU, but Navy and Temple would probably say "no" and MTSU would not pass the laugh test.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: UCF to Big East...?Navy's other drawback might be the schedule they'd have to play.
They would be locked into a CUSA schedule, and they generally always have Notre Dame, Army, and Air Force. If they want to play Maryland or Ohio State, that's a hefty slate all the way around. No room for a Western Kentucky
Re: UCF to Big East...?
Is this satire?
La Tech does NOT replace Houston! Are you insane? La Tech is a nothing program in ZERO media market. Houston has beaten BCS level teams recently and is in a top media market. La Tech is garbage is nobody is going to push to have them added. Do you propose UNT be added because it's in the footprint?
Temple? MTSU? Why would ECU want them? "I think Couchem is right."

Re: UCF to Big East...?I think the "no-brainer" Is to add SMU, UH, and UCF. Solidify the Texas market. Split it East/West with SMU, TCU, UH, Cincinnati, Louisville and West Virginia in the West. UCF, USF, UConn Rutgers, Syracuse and Pitt in the East. Gives the East Coast boys some warm weather locales to play in Nov. Maybe add Memphis and Marshall later.
Re: UCF to Big East...?
I'm a TCU Fan first but also an SMU fan. Its fairly obvious that TCU has enjoyed its status as the only Texas team in the MWC. I don't know if we have the power to veto SMU to the Big East. But unfortunately, I'm sure we would discourage SMU to the Big East. This is shortsighted on TCUs part because I for one want local rivalries in our conference. Who cares about TCU / Rutgers? That's not a conference game I'd look forward to. I'm also not that excited about the normal list of candidates the Big East talks about all the time. Central Florida & ECU are about the 5th or 6th best option in their home states. Villanova - are you kidding me? Who knows whats going on behind closed doors, but if I were the B'East, I would be bluffing with Central Florida and making a serious push for the Big 12 North Teams. Missouri, KSU & KU together with TCU would make up a good core for a western division. Honestly, I don't think SMU would garnish much interest by the Big East because B'East basketball is allready too big, and SMU football doesn't add what is needed. Big East Basketball & Football need to divorese, then teams like SMU might have a chance. If I'm the Big 12 Norrth, I take seriously the Big East. Texas wnats independence, and A&M are always talking about the SEC....
Re: UCF to Big East...?Thanks for explaining...you are a revolutionary thinker in the likes of Voltaire, Darwin, ect.
Good talk...
Re: UCF to Big East...?If the Big East is determined to expand to 12 football members and also wants to protect their original "brand", then UCF appears to be the no-brainer invite. Largest public school in the country translates to tremendous potential, and by adding UCF they could have 18 bball members, which creates challenges scheduling wise, but even number gives more flexibility.
Nova and Navy (football only invite) can eventually get them to 12 football members This all assumes BC is happy being in the ACC and that the Big East would not have them back
UCF to Big East...?They are not the Golden Knights, and have not been for years. They are the Knights and prefer to be called UCF.

UCF to Big East...?To far away to dig in , the Mustangs are my number 1
Re: UCF to Big East...?
The central question surrounding the future of conferences is whether they will expand to 14 to or 16. Based upon the Pac-10's past plan, 16 would seem the more likely. If it is 16, then 4 conferences would result in only 66 BCS teams (BYU and ND being independent). I do not believe this will be a sufficient majority for the BCS, particularly with the number of teams the WAC is persuading to move up to Division I. Thus, I am of the opinion that there will be 5 BCS conferences, each consisting of 16 teams. The Big East's expansion already suggests that the conference is preparing for future raids. The remnants of the Big East and Big 12 would have the potential to form a conference that could make a sufficient argument for BCS status, aided in that a number of its members would have possessed this status before. TCU may eventually find its itself in a very different Big East, but I have no doubt that it will continue to enjoy BCS status. Far East Conference
Re: UCF to Big East...?i have it on good authority that the BE will be expanding to 12 FB and 20 BB and then sitting tight

Re: UCF to Big East...?My Guess is that in a few years the Big 12 will be looking to get back to a 12 team conference. Championship games make to much money and are better for conference prestige wise. When that happensbWe will have our best shot to get into an AQ, I don't see the BIG East as being a real option because eventualy the BIg 10 will eat the tasty bits. Not that it will ever happen but when the BIg 12 looks to expand they should go back after Arkansas, I've always felt it was the biggest mistake for them to leave. I know they have enjoyed some succes in the SEC but they have always been an outsider, they need to Play A&M and UT, all their alums are in Tx and this has always been their recruiting base.
Re: UCF to Big East...?Big 10 has 12 members-doubt they would consider adding anyone not named Notre Dame or Texas

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
