Re: Could 2-3 decommitsDepends on who those 2-3 decommits are, but I don't think it destroys our class this season. Assuming the worst that we lose Moreland then we will be knocked down quite a bit in the rankings, but we'll still have one of the top classes in CUSA and one of the top 3-4 non-BCS classes in the country. Even with a few decommits we will still have a better class than last year by both Rivals and Scout.
That said, I don't think we'll see anyone decommit. We're in good shape. Just have to close it out. Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Could 2-3 decommitsI was thinking the same thing. Or 2-3 decommits and another 4-5 not get admitted
Re: Could 2-3 decommitsRuin? Of course not. It might take a little of the sizzle off the class, but by all accounts, this is a terrific class. Take out any three guys, and it will still be a very good class - maybe not the best in (however many years), but still very good. This isn't a mediocre class with one or two studs. Coach Reinebold and Coach Klemm have led the way stocking a class with talent across the class. I can't wait until Signing Day.

Re: Could 2-3 decommitsThere will be a few who don't qualify. Happens every year. I'm far more concerned about that than a few decommits.

Re: Could 2-3 decommitsOn the other hand, what if SMU picks another UCLA commit or two? I'm sure we are playing that same game but from the other end.
Re: Could 2-3 decommitsfrom the article posted the other day, I don't know that I want any of UCLAs recruits

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Re: Could 2-3 decommitsit depends on who you replace them with-but Houston has 6 decommitments and I think Tulsa has 5 decommitments. If they hold it to 1 decommitment then you give the Coaching staff an A because generally schools in SMU's present situation lose 3+ historically.

Re: Could 2-3 decommitsOver the years who are some notable decommits? Seems like we never got that far. They'd have interest but would commit elsewhere (haugabook?) Only decommit I can think of is the lb Hall who switched to Okie St
Re: Could 2-3 decommitsI guess when you dance with the big boys, someone is going to try to cut in. It is nice that we are reaching this level of recruiting, but man it is nerve racking. I can only imagine what the coaching staff is going thru. Keep up the good work coaches!!!
GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Could 2-3 decommitsI'm talking about schools like TCU, Tulsa, UH and Southern Miss who have had recruiting classes ranked among the best non-BCS classes in December and January. Those schools have repeatedly had some of their top recruits picked off by BCS schools. I really don't think SMU has been in that position before.
But that's a fun game too-I'll start with Mwelde Moore who skipped out on signing date to Tulane "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Re: Could 2-3 decommitsYes, as Stallion notes, recruiting against the "big boys" will put SMU into a position to lose some recruits a la tcu, but it will get better as SMU wins more and gets more exposure. Also, it will help if JJ can, and will, bring old players back. Seeing Dickerson is great, but so would Michael Carter, Russell Carter, Jerry Ball, Wes Hopkins, and of course Sanders and Morstead. Lets Go Ponies!!
Re: Could 2-3 decommitsYep its happened to TCU a bunch-losing out on top players at the Bell. I was reading a post by FiestyFrog(guy knows what he is talking about) on the Frog Forum. He pointed out-and I can confirm- that as good as TCU's RBs are think about the ones that barely got away:
Oregon' LaMichael James. TCU was the only Texas program to offer but Oregon stole him in final days. Same with Oregon receiver Josh Huff. Knile Davis, Arkansas stud RB who was one of the best in the country in the 2nd half of the season , picked the Hogs over TCU Kendall Hunter Oklahoma St: Committed to TCU, switched to Okie St . Re: Could 2-3 decommitsWas Clifton Murphy a SMU commit, or was he just waiting for a TCU offer with out committing? I can't remember.
If memory serves, that was late in the process. #NewLobCity
