IPFI've wanted to ask this question for some time, but am just now getting the nerve. Besides keeping up with the jones'---why is an IPF needed? I understand that it would be nicer to practice inside during bad weather, bragging rights, etc. but we PLAY outside in the elements as do all of our opponents. Seems like practicing in the elements would maybe get you in better shape to play in the elements. I remember hearing how the pro teams that play home games in a domed stadium would be at a disadvantage if they played at Green Bay, Pittsburgh, New ENgland, etc. during the winter when the weather could be so bitterly cold---I don't know if that's true or not. Just curious...
Re: IPFhelps you get better reps in and more efficient. If it was sleeting/icing, vvery cold, or pouring rain you'd much rather be indoors. And even with the Texas heat, it would be much better for the staff and players. If it's pouring rain all week preparing for a game on Sat, it just doesn't work well w/out IPF.
All the top high schools have a IPF - crazy not to be up to speed at this point with facilities compared to our competition.
Re: IPFI have practiced in the pouring rain. It is very hard to concentrate, and with an offense like the run and shoot it is imperative that repetition and concentration be at maximums. If you need to use the elements for preparation you always have that option if you so desire. But if you have a week of rain it is tough to get ready for a game. If you recall we had a game last year with a short week and rain to boot and we came out very unprepared. And then there is the keeping up with the Jones'.

Re: IPFNo problem. I meant that I do not think we need one just because others have one but because of the recruiting advantage it gives to others. But I do actually believe there is a need for one due to weather. Either because of excessive heat, rain, snow, wind, whatever, if you are teaching you need full attention. And again, if you need to practice playing in the rain, you do not have to use the facility if you do not want to for that reason.

Re: IPFThe following people desire a practice facility
1. Coaches 2. Players 3. Recruits 4. Athletic Staff 5. Fans Rest assured, SMU will entirely ignore your "soccer mom" demographic. Far East Conference
Re: IPFI do not understand why they don't just put t where the outside practice field is now. They do not need both. If you want to practice outside go into Ford. It can be done with an outside facade that can blend in with the rest of the architecture. I doubt they would want a balloon or a garage looking facility anywhere on the campus so might as well do it right.

Re: IPF
The only reason to not put it on the current practice fields is if you want to practice on grass for that particular week because you are playing a team that plays on grass.
Re: IPF
I think, and I could be wrong, that the current practice field would be big enough to use for both an indoor and an outdoor practice area. Isn't there enough room for both? Or I am sure they could borrow the intramural field for a couple of days when we play the one or two teams that have grass fields. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: IPF
You might be right, that is just the only reason I could think of other then it potentially not fitting in with the architecture which you addressed.
Re: IPF
Do you forget?......we have 110 degree summers...they need cooler practices..rain be damned
Re: IPFas i recall we needed an IPF this last fall due to inclement weather
