A Couple of Strange Commitment Stories

Postby Stallion » Wed Feb 02, 2011 8:55 pm

Momma laid down the law to a couple of recruits today. With what happened at Auburn with Cam Newton Dad do any of you find this just a tad suspicious

http://jg-tc.com/sports/nationalcollege ... 10245.html

And this story from West Coast Johnny who I believe posts over here that I saw on the Frog Forum

Nila Kasitati was a good one. Him and his mom couldn't agree as to which LOI he should sign. Nila wanted to go with Baylor, and his Mom wanted to go with the Sooners. Eye wittnesses report that him and his mom got in a very heated discussion about it, with the coach at Euless Trinity playing peace maker. Because it was at Trinity, there were 5 local news crews there to capture the cat fight on video. Briles is probably on his way to Blinn CC to see who didn't transfer to D1. Poor Baylor - it would be heart breaking if it weren't so funny.

Yeah - how about this one? 5* Cyrus Kouandjo says Auburn on TV but never faxes his LOI. Now saying Bama. Auburn's ranking drops from #3 to #7 on Rivals all because of this.

Kouandjio rethinks decision

Cyrus Kouandjio sat behind a microphone, on national television, and the five-star offensive tackle from Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha said that he was going to sign with Auburn instead of Alabama, New Mexico and others.

That decision has been put on hold though because Kouandjio never faxed his letter of intent to the Tigers. In an apparent instant change of heart, the 6-foot-7, 322-pound standout now says he needs more time to make a decision.

His brother, Arie, plays at Alabama and many believed he would follow his brother to Tuscaloosa. Kouandjio's commitment to Auburn came as a surprise but it might not stick. There are more considerations to be made before anything is faxed.

"I'm getting phone calls from Auburn saying he never faxed anything back, so I'm on the phone asking him, 'Well, why didn't you fax anything?'" DeMatha coach Bill McGregor said. "All I know is he is not 100 percent sure of his decision and he wants more time."

Another story involves a Rivals 4* RB commit--Jeremy Hill--who was committed to LSU. The kid just got arrested for sexual assault like 2 weeks ago. Status is now up in the air, but did not sign LOI today. Don't know the official position of LSU on this, but geez--what a screw up.

Brought down LSU's class ranking, too.

There is also the story of the Ohio State recruit from Cleveland who was arrested for feeling up 15 year old girls under the guise of fitting them for costumes.

It goes to show that many highly recruited athletes are confused by the whole process or are total flakes.

I've got a scenario-assume a kid is denied his choice and parent says he won't sign any LOI unless son signs with a school that bought parent off-then what happens. NCAA is going to have to clean up the mess they created with Cam Newton situation

Don't parents only have to sign if a kid is under 18? or is it for all of them.

I'm sure those AU boosters and their ilk at other schools are really feeling untouchable. NCAA lost what little respect they still had after the Cammy Cam precedent. Bunch of dopes.

no matter how you slice it, being in the top 10 is good.
