SMU Back in Rivals Top 50
I wonder if Rivals should be including the preferred walkon in our commitment list because it may make a difference in finishing in Top 50 at least with regard to Average Per Recruit. Could be used for some publicity if we are the Top non-BCS class. Right now No. 1 in Total Points and Average but I've read that UCF still has two 4 stars they think they have a shot at. Must have figured out that Marshall was violating NCAA rules by signing 34-35.

#50 overall, #1 in C-USA, and #1 Non-BCS. Not too shabby.

So excited about this class! Really going to be hard to have to wait until September for the season to start. Congrats to all of the coaches - what an amazing job!
Re: SMU Back in Rivals Top 50
Don't worry, including him will not make a difference in the rivals points based ranking system. There are bonus point implications if a team's average stars per recruit is over 3.0, but no impact if they are below 3.0. Since SMU was already under a 3.0 average (just 1 4-star and multiple 2-star), adding in one more 2-star does not make a difference.Stallion wrote:I wonder if Rivals should be including the preferred walkon in our commitment list because it may make a difference in finishing in Top 50 at least with regard to Average Per Recruit. Re: SMU Back in Rivals Top 50
but it affects average per recruit-right? At the time I first investigated the facts for this post I thought we were only holding onto Top 50 in Average Per Recruit.

Re: SMU Back in Rivals Top 50
Yes, you are right, it does affect average per recruit as they include all of the signed recruits in that calculation. I meant to refer to just the Rivals points based ranking, I should have been more clear.Stallion wrote:but it affects average per recruit-right? Removing the preferred walk-on 2-star raised SMU avg per recruit to 2.81 vs 2.79 when including him, if anyone is interested.

Re: SMU Back in Rivals Top 50
any notable BCS conference teams below us?
Re: SMU Back in Rivals Top 50
Wouldn't say most of these are notable but they are the BCS teams behind smu in avg stars per recruit. No one from the mt west other than TCU is even close to SMU and only La Tech is somewhat within sniffing distance from the WAC. No one from the MAC is close either.gostangs wrote:any notable BCS conference teams below us?

TCU would be the number 1 Non BCS school since they don't go to the BCS until after next year.BRStang wrote:#50 overall, #1 in C-USA, and #1 Non-BCS. Not too shabby.

Anyone know why UCF fell out of the top 50? seems they had a great class as well.

Enough of the nit picky stuff, good class for SMU compared to the last 20 years. I think a few more would have gotten BCS offers but had already been 100% sold on SMU.

Re: SMU Back in Rivals Top 50
UCF has added one 4 star, a one 5.6 three star and rumors are very very strong that they have gotten a 4 star QB to switch from Louisville to UCF which commitment is a done deal but will be announced at a press conference tomorrow. UCF could finish near No. 40 or above in Rivals. SMU has been pushed out of Top 50 but remains in 2nd ahead of Marshall in Rivals in both Points and Average Points. SMU still is the No. 1 non-BCS Class according to Scout at No. 48

No [deleted] - just to even be in the running for the so-called "best non-BCS class" just shows how on the right track we are.Pony_Fan wrote:Enough of the nit picky stuff, good class for SMU compared to the last 20 years. Great job to all of the coaches - and thanks.
