Re: ESPN SMU RECRUITING ANALYSISNot too bad of an analysis. I would submit that JJ's turnarounds, though, start with modifying the mindset of those already in the program before he ever gets to recruit the players he wants.
Re: ESPN SMU RECRUITING ANALYSISSo if Niemchi is behind ZL where is Fields?
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: ESPN SMU RECRUITING ANALYSIS
I thought there was something floating out there that the staff was considering moving him to linebacker. Personally, I think that would be a great move. He's got the size for it. Just add about 15 pounds and if he maintain that speed, seeing him on the outside is a pretty intriguing idea.
Re: ESPN SMU RECRUITING ANALYSIS
No he wont. The sole export of Chuck Norris is pain
ESPN SMU RECRUITING ANALYSISI believe Coach Morrison indicated as much at the signing day event.
Derail the Frogs!
Re: ESPN SMU RECRUITING ANALYSISI heard JJ say in an interview, recently that Fields would be moved to defense, linebacker . Maybe someone has a copy of the interview. It occured within the last month or so.
GO MUSTANGS!
Re: ESPN SMU RECRUITING ANALYSIS
Definitely would be moved to defense or was considering a move? They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: ESPN SMU RECRUITING ANALYSIS
he sounded like it is a done deal. GO MUSTANGS!
Re: ESPN SMU RECRUITING ANALYSISOne of the ways TCU made their climb was by recruiting great players/athletes at one position and then moving them to another. If the kid has talent and is okay with the move, go for it. Fields looks like a helluva athlete, I'd love to see him get on the field at LB

Re: ESPN SMU RECRUITING ANALYSISChanging Fields' position just does not make any sense to me, although I acknowledge that JJ and staff may know just a little bit more than me. In any event, I think there has been some talk that Fields had difficulty with picking up blocking assignments, this doesn't seem to be a big surprise for a true freshman RB who likely did not have to block at all in HS and I don't know why this would warrant a position change this early in his college career. It seems like a position change would only increase the challenge of picking up one of our systems. Furthermore, the few times that Fields got a chance to carry the ball either as a RB or KR, he looks pretty electric and also looks like the fastest guy on the field. Maybe WR would be the most realistic position change, especially in light of the number of OLB/DEs we signed this year.
PONY UP!
Re: ESPN SMU RECRUITING ANALYSIS
Fields showed some flash as a return guy before his injury; would be good to get him on the field somewhere and it's going to be tough to move Zach out of the RB spot
Re: ESPN SMU RECRUITING ANALYSISI think if Field can get the pass protection down he should stay at RB, it wouldbe good to spell Line and his athleticism might let one of those draws break for the kindof home run i don'tthinkline can deliver (not a knock he just doesn't have break away speed) alsothere is nothing wrong with having a fresh talented senior starting at rb in a few years
Re: ESPN SMU RECRUITING ANALYSISYou want linebackers who can run. I am very intrigued about Fields moving over there. He has the size to play it. And speed? All you need to know about that was the KOR against Texas Tech in the opener.
Betcha it gets him on the field sooner.
