Center PositionWho is going to most likely play center next season? Those snaps all year were terrible

Center PositionI don't know who of that group would be better. Thing is June plays the best he has. So that's a little frighting
Re: Center PositionWe are going to have to be better at the center position in 2011 if our offense is to improve. That is an understatement.
Re: Center PositionI know this may be a long shot but one of the incoming kids Lasecki apparently has really impressed the coaches with his strength and dominance over D-Lineman in camp drills. He switched from Guard to Center on his HS team last year to get ready for the move there at SMU.
He's at least going to be one to watch if not this year, maybe the following one. ![]()
Re: Center PositionObviously a post from a relative of a backup center for SMU.
Re: Center Position
which post?
Re: Center Position
I think Ben Gotchalk will be in the mix as well.
Re: Center Position
If youre talking about my post, youre dead wrong. The kid I was talking about isnt even on the roster, not to mention I dont even know him. Ive just read some positive things about him. The center play has to get better, I think we can all agree on that. Im sure we will see a change there one way or another. ![]()
Re: Center PositionEveryone's a relative if they disagree with SMUUTH.
Re: Center Position
Good to have legit competition on the o-line. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: Center PositionIn 2009 we were stronger upfront due to the depth we had. Unfortunately, Mitch graduated and Leribus was academically ineligible. Depth in 2010 simply wasn't there. Compound the lack of depth with injuries to Brooks and Turner and the challenge at center, the offense was in trouble. Add to that equation not having a receiver to step up to replace ES and you had a formula that produced 27 points a game. It all starts up front. We get stronger up front, we will do better. Simple.
Re: Center PositionOur o-line is set to be really good next year, we have 5 returning starters and i know some of the younger guys on the depth chart were really impressing the coaches so we will have really good camp competitions and I wouldn't be surprised if someone new breaks into the starting 5. That said i doubt any of this years class will even make the 2 deep roster. Players in HS are smaller and they need at least a year to put on the size to compete at the next level usually. As far as the snaps, I think this is mostly a mental thing that would be hard to correct during the year because of the pressure but hopefully the kid is working at it and will have it sorted out by the time fall rolls around
Re: Center PositionWhy does McJunkin have so much trouble with his snaps? I've heard his technique is great, athletic but really small frame. Is his worry about getting manhandled messing up his snaps?
Center Position
Always worried about getting beat on the line.
