Re: Road trip to San Antonio ?I am guessing no one does but I am going to ask this anyway, does anyone know what the buyout of this contract would be on aggys end.
Road trip to San Antonio ?I'd gladly trade A&M at Ford for a neutral site game broadcasted nationally on ESPN. Gives lots of cred for the program.

Re: Road trip to San Antonio ?thats foolish
we arent Texas State - we need to stop trading our home games away. Wins give us cred -
Re: Road trip to San Antonio ?if we don't agree they will just play at Kyle Field this year and buy out the Ford game in 2012 -that game will never be played at Ford

Re: Road trip to San Antonio ?
Can they buyout the 2012 game without buying out the entire series?
Re: Road trip to San Antonio ?Let them buy us out then - lets show some schutzpa
Re: Road trip to San Antonio ?
There *is* a loophole for neutral-site games, which has taken games away from both ESPN and Fox when they haven't had the rights to show games because they are moved to neutral sites. Boise State got $1.25 mil and Virginia Tech got $2.35 mil for their neutral site game at Redskins Stadium last season. Boise State will get $1.4 mil and Georgia will get $1.7 mil for playing at the Georgia Dome to start the coming season. BYU got $1 mil and Oklahoma got $2.25 mil for playing at Cowboys Stadium in 2009. I would assume that SMU would get at least $1 mil for a game in San Antonio and Texas A&M (which has a BIG Athletic deficit problem to deal with) will get $2.5 mil or so if the game is moved.
Re: Road trip to San Antonio ?Hey Gostngs come on down I35 and you will enjoy the town and the game. Besides SMU has played A&M well in the Alamodome. Remember 1994 when a post death penalty SMU tied a ranked A&M in the Alamodome.
Re: Road trip to San Antonio ?I am all for playing in SA - much prefer that over aggieland - the ugliest college campus in america (yes - even worse then TCU) - and taking the cult out of their compound is always a good idea.
Ill be at the game either way, but I dont want to give up our home game with them to do it and dont want to capitulate to the friggin aggies. We should at least hold out for more of the dough.
Re: Road trip to San Antonio ?
For us to play the farmers in SA, there is no doubt in my mind that we would switch home games to make the SA game our home game. So that way it is a home game for sword people. Word has it hat JJ wants out of the contract as playing tcuseless and Navy every year is enough. I disagree with that assessment as I think if you want to get good you gotta play the big boys. As much as I can't stand the froggies, they went down on a one game contract and played the stupid cows.
Re: Road trip to San Antonio ?
OK, so you assume that we would play in SA this year and in college station next year. I understand why you would not want to do that. If we are going to play A&M I would not mind two SA games if we make more money by playing in SA than at Ford. The problem with Ford is it is too small for big games and Jerry's world is too big. Personally if I were doing the scheduling I would never schedule Navy or any team like them because it disrupts our defense preparations. They are the only team we play that runs that kind of offense and it's disruptive to have to prepare for it. I also would not schedule AQ conference teams unless the money was very substantial. The only exception would be TCU and that is because they are a major rival. I would take a page from the BCS boys. Play weak teams for non conference and get 4 wins then you only need 2 conference wins to be bowl eligible and if you play all your non conference games early you go into conference undefeated and nationally ranked. It works for Texas et al and it would work for us. Now when we become legit top 25 then I would add some of the big ranked programs, but until then TCU is big enough. Winning counts more than who you play until you begin to threaten the BCS and then they start using your opponents against you.
Re: Road trip to San Antonio ?SA..I respecty ya man..but disagree.
When you are trying to get up to top you schedule the big boys. It makes you better to play up. Once you are on top..you schedule UTSA to pad your wins to get into the BCS. (Note to Dutch...see I can talk about other topics other than the topic that won't be mentioned. I love the game...but college football is special...TRADITION is what makes college football different from the pros..)
Re: Road trip to San Antonio ?Yeah, I understand the theory. I don't think it works. You need to be challenged and that means it is good to play someone who is better than you are, but it doesn't help to have 3 non conference losses by playing teams that are clearly out of your league. Regardless, no need to ever play a team like Navy when the rest of your schedule is a variation of the spread.
Re: Road trip to San Antonio ?
We are talking about aggy here, they aren't out of anyone's league.
