It is ridiculous that so many of us are so quick to blame Kyle for all of the offensive woes. There are tons of other issues that have caused our offense to stall. First and foremost, our poor offensive line play is a big component. We were in the bottom 1/3 in the nation in sacks allowed, and all of us that watched every game this year can agree that there were way too many instances in which Kyle had to run around. For an offense that is so dependent on timing, this is killer. Next, there were plenty of games where receivers dropped perfect passes in key moments. Ditto for penalties. How many times this season were we driving when we had a holding/false start put us back yardage and stall the drive? Also, the consistent terrible field position due to subpar special teams play and the lack of turnovers by the Defense. Long fields make scoring drives much harder to achieve. Finally, we have Kyle's mistakes. Under the pressure, he often got rattled in the pocket and became inaccurate with his throws. He also tended to stare down his receivers at times. All mistakes I expect out of a Sophomore. I am not trying to say Kyle made no mistakes and does not need to improve, but I think we need to all keep the other issues with our team/offense in perspective instead of thinking that replacing Kyle with Kaiser or Preston will solve everything

I don't think SMU had any receiver that worked half as hard to get open throughout the play as Emanuel Sanders either.

I think the change at center is going to make a huge difference. Assuming KP doesn't have to adjust to every snap, you can add about .5-1 second of read time every play. Also a receiving corp of TW, DJ, Beasley, and Holman, will make a huge difference. I was told that TW still has a firm grasp of the offense. If Darius can stay eligible, he may have a D. Bess type year.

Excited for next year! Our offense is going to be SOOOOOOO much better.

His career #s are 18 Ints out of 709 attempts = 2.5% of all passes thrown were intercepted. Compared to 437 completions = 61.6% and 41 td passes = 5.8%. This shows he threw twice as many td passes as INTs. His 61.6% completion % is also a career record at SMU. I think the guys doing ok.

I believe the complaints are justified. In too many games Kyle did not hit or did not read the open man. I bet Kyle himself would tell you that. Just like a Movie Star, the QB rises or falls with his last performance. That Army game was a Turkey and the Hawaii game was a blockbuster. I, however, have faith that Kyle will rise to the occasion next year and we will see an 8 or 9 game wining season.

Padron just finished his 1st FULL season, so let's see what next year brings. I can't imagine him being displaced by an incoming Frosh. The OL should be strong, running game is proven so let's see how our receivers perform next year. Plenty of opportunity for guys to step up.

I think we also have to take into account that the offensive line will be much better next season. That will ehlp KP out tremendously. Beachum is the only lineman who is a lock to start.

Actually, I thought the line played better in 2009. Losing Leribus cost us depth and experience. Also, Brooks was hurt most of the season and when he did play, he wasn't as effective as he was last year. Look where the pressure came from the most. The right side. We had to play a couple of young players due to injury and ineffectiveness. 2009 also had a genius playing center making the right calls and snapping the ball accurately. I also believe the fact that we didn't have a Shawmbrey to throw the swing pass to hurt as well. SM was more of a weapon in the passing game. He also could break one at any time. Not to take away from Zach's season, however, he wasn't ever a threat to break one. How many passes did SM catch out of the backfield in 2009? A bunch. Zach, not too much. A few shuffle passes and that was about it. Getting Leribus back, and another year of experience for our line will help. Depth will be deeper than ever before. 2011 looks bright. I hope we can get another receiving threat. The time a QB needs is obviuosly predicated on the play call. Quick passes out of the backfield helps control the rush as well.

I think June himself puts this thought in our heads. It seems like after every game he says something like, "We really missed out on some good opportunities today. Kyle will be dissappointed when he sees the film."

I will be happy when he doesn't have to use this line anymore in post-game.

This is an excellent point. A coach kike June will never say "well our WRs were not getting open and not running the right routes" and criticize everyone on the team. Everyone bags on Padron for holding the ball too long-is it a flaw of Padron, or can he not trust his receivers to run the right routes or get open?
