As an SMU fan (not ex), I couldn't help but be disappointed when TCU came over here to play football twice in the last five years, and my granddaughter, a TCU student, saw all around her our students wearing "TCU SUCKS!" emblazoned. Mild, I guess, but really reflective of SMU's classiness?

I don't like them, but the TCU SUCKS shirts aren't any worse the tcu's Muck the Fustangs shirts.

to me "small time" is riding the baylor football team AFTER you beat them and then pretending like it was a significant accomplishment to beat baylor...TCU won the ROSE BOWL, those fans have no perspective on dignity or class in victory.

trash talk a real rival, trash talk us...but baylor? c'mon man.

this "old SWC" is dead a buried, those nostalgic excuses can be re-hashed till the end of time.

You bring up the "TCU sucks" t-shirts every chance you get. What is your obsession with that? It makes me question your loyalty to SMU. Have you ever been to any other colleges on game day? You'll find that "TCU sucks" is extremely tame by comparison. Most schools use "Tuck Fexas", "Ruck Fice", etc.

Sorry about that. I guess It sticks in my craw because I was with my 18 year old granddaughter over here at a game, after telling her what a great place SMU was, the campus great, the people great. So you're right, it's not a huge deal, but in the context of how classy we are in comparison to other schools, I keep thinking of it. And son, don't ever question my loyalty to SMU.

I agree that most of these things are harmless. However, I can tell you that my 8 year old son is still talking about how the SMU fans were bad sports and how they used "bad" words. (Lots of F TCUs shouted in our direction.) I only say this because I was disappointed in the SMU fans that did this (just like I am disappointed in those two clowns at the TCU game). I'm not sure he ever wound have considered attending SMU but I am sure he will remember this 10 years from now.

Bottom line...this is a waste of time. We have all experienced the worst from opposing fans. Just bothers me when it is done in the direction of young kids - that sticks in my craw.

Yeah, and it's interesting how deep some things are seeded.

After the Frogs won their Rose Bowl game, some Froggies wore purple Rose Bowl champs to church the next week (strange, but whatever). Anyway, going down the hall after picking my son up from Sunday school, we walked by him, and my son stopped, pointed, and said "BOO! TCU!"

I'm sure I'm seen as a bad influence now...I tried to make nice, and they laughed it off.

Re: The TCU Sucks T-shirts

It doesn't exude class but please remember the environment these shirts born from. These were made during the 0-12 & 1-11 seasons. Our football program was completely in the toilet. Our effort and coaching was an absolute embarrassment live and on TV. Students were looking for something ANYTHING to make them feel proud of being an SMU fan. Hopefully as we win more we'll see more sophisticated jabs than jinglin' car keys or "TCU Sucks".

Also, in fairness, SMU really hasn't been competitive with TCU and students/fans haven't had to really regard us much at all. When/If that changes, I expect you'll hear a whole lot more "FU SMU" and "SMU Sucks" thrown our way. Right now, all they worry about during games is their Rah Rah TCUs and talk amongst themselves about how great they are.

Regarding the "TCU Sucks" shirts, I liked the 2007 "Pony Up Yours, TCU" shirts better. They had the Pony Up logo on the front and the Yours, TCU on the back.

There are [deleted] fans at every school. Thats just football. People are passionate about their teams. Some morons just do not know how to channel that emotion into getting blasted with your friends and enjoying a victory.
