You can make that case for every school in the country. I put no stock in it whatever just making the point it's mostly bs.
Tcu has reached that level without ever having a top 25 recruiting class.
The point is that the players we got in majority were in demand by many other schools.

However, like Stallion, I believe that looking at the offers a player has is more valuable than their star ranking - this is even more relevant based on the fact that Rivals is much quicker to give out 3 stars now than they were 5 years ago. I only included D1A offers...
Here it is... SMU 27 Players 92 Total Offers 38 BCS Offers TCU 25 123 80 Rice 20 59 12 Hou 22 41 21 UCF 26 111 76
Based on this, UCF had an outstanding class. Houston had a weak class...thought you guys might be curious like I was.
UCF got a lot of guys that had offers from lower-level Big East schools. Not exactly the same as going up against the UTs and OUs of the world like TCU was doing, but still, they had an impressive class.

No doubt the info from Rivals is suspect at best. And all BCS schools are not created equal - now that is one obvious statement.

Just wanted to make sure the clarification was made before someone took the numbers at face value.

I like to compare it to our old recruiting where at SMU it would look something like: 27 Signees, 2 BCS offers, 32 Total offers. Progress.

TCU may have gone up against UT, but they failed against them. I think UT has 7 or 8 guys in their class that had TCU offers. TCU didn't sign anyone that had UT offers. TCU did better against OU and added Brandon Carter & LaDarius Brown. TCU still doesn't recruit against the major programs but the school is doing well against Oklahoma State, A&M, Tech, and the Big 12 North.

SMU Mustangs Top prospect: DE Devon Moreland (Los Angeles, Calif./Salesian). A disruptive vertical attacker, Moreland is a tweener defensive end/outside linebacker with a lot of upside as a pass-rusher. Name to remember: RB K.C. Nlemchi (Katy, Texas/Cinco Ranch). A running back who could carry the load with great size and power but fits well in this offense with his surprisingly good hands and receiving skills. Breakdown: This is one of SMU's best classes in recent years with a focus on the offensive and defensive lines. Aside from Moreland, we like versatile and physical defensive tackle Zach Wood (Rowlett, Texas/Rowlett). On the offensive front, projected three-star guard Dontae Levingston (Harbor City, Calif./Narbonne) is quick and agile enough to also remain at tackle.

yes-they identified the nuggets first and watched 6 of them flee for the BCS. At one point UH's Class was in the 30s I believe-they were definitely ahead of us

Good idea but.........guys who committ early (like jr day at Ut in Feb) will not have as many or any more offers. Also, none of the scouting services knows who has offered what. They are taking the kids word on who has offered. You know what that means........remeber a couple years back the kid who said he had these offers and set up a signing day press conference at his high school and the media reported his committment and future signing with Cal(as I remember it). Fortunately Cal got wind of it and called the school to say they hadn't talked with and didn't offer the kid. Just because it is scout or rivals or usa today doesn't mean it is true!
