Coach Reinebold is a great recruiter and is really helping
this program, it's hard to believe you would like to run him off.

The picture on the front of Pony Fans is of SMU recruit/signee Darius Joseph
who said this about Coach Reinebold:

"(Receivers) Coach (Jeff) Reinebold is great. I can see myself learning a lot from him.
The relationship he has with his players goes beyond the normal player-coach relationship.
It seems like it’s at a friend level, but they still have so much respect for him. They seem
to really like him, but they also work hard for him in practice. He communicates with them
really well — that’s obvious from the way he interacts with his guys."

Oh really?
Compared to what?
After consecutive trip to Bowls
The Run & Shoot is looking pretty good to me
Can it and will it get better?....June Jone's history certainly says it will.

I think smuuth may have been referring to when Rossley ran the run and shoot in the early 90s. There is room to improve, but you can't argue with the results these guys are getting. We have won 15 games in two seasons. How quickly some of us seem to forget the the 0-12 and 1-11 seasons.

I have to agree with smuuth here. We have not yet won a BCS bowl game the entire time JJ has been here.

I'm not advocating running off any coaches, but surely you can admit that the offense has underperformed compared to Hawaii, every year including Jones' first year there, and compared to several years under the Bennett regime. As I posted on here a few months ago, the "Justin Willis runs around and makes things happen" offense of Bennett and the every year at Hawaii including the first year with talent coming off two winless seasons out performed our offense significantly.

I wonder if anyone would be interested in the tidbit that the Honolulu Advertiser reported 2 years ago that Coach McKnight applied for the special teams job at Hawaii 2 years ago. Coach Tormey (former assistant at Washington and former head coach at Nevada) got the job instead and opened up recruiting pipelines to the state of Washington that UH never had before. Tormey moved on to Washington State, which is why the job is open again.

If McKnight had left SMU after the 1-11 season and missed both bowl runs, people here would probably reacted differently to his departure. But McKnight's application for the Hawaii job made sense to me because he's engaged to Hawaii's track-and-field coach.

Lots of rumored candidates, but to me the best story would be if JJ uses the instability at UCLA (the head coach is a lame duck who got rid of Norm Chow and had his choice for defensive coordinator vetoed so he has no defensive coordinator right now) to get Frank Gansz, Jr. to SMU. A Gansz at special teams coach would be a great story to me.

This was my first thought.

Don't know anything about him. Just wouldn't want him to turn out to be a Forrest Gregg Jr.

Gansz, Jr has good experience. I believe he was ST coach for the 49ers for a while. If Jones feels he is an apple that did not fall far from the tree I think he would be considered.

If we are going to look for dynamic former players with no coaching experience maybe we should ask Dickerson if he is bored. Didn't Klemm decide to work with Jones because he was just looking for something to do?

I certainly won't be shedding any tears over him leaving. Hope he'll enjoy Canada.

I cannot see your post on my iPhone but my guess is that it is Dickerson coaching the Lingerie Bowl.
