Thanks for explaining Dutch!

you're welcome. Please PM me to make your contribution to the Mustang Club. your donation can be directed to a specific sport if you choose.

p.s. we have an internal competition, so donate through me. BUS will get credit for money i raise this year b/c i'm on his 'team'.

Wish I would have known all the details about the Morgan Campaign before I signed up for the MC online a week ago. I'll make sure to re-up with you next year.

malachi:

Call the MC and tell them to designate your donation to the BUS team. They will designate it as so. If they need his real name, pm BUS and he will tell you. I do not divulge the names unless given the ok.

Of course it will. :D But that said, you would always be welcome to use my extra ticket whenever it is available, which is most games.

Donations can be made through the Mustang Club, with your season tickets or on-line. Yes, the money does go into the common wallet but we do like a little competition as to how much we raise. For those that do not have the ability to donate large sums of money, working on the Morgan campaign is another way to support SMU.
Thanks for all types of help!!!!!
OTP, I know you will choose to make a donation and get your season tickets... you would not be able to sleep at night knowing that you watched this team improve and now we are really getting good! See you next year on the Boulevard.

Dutch wrote:The Morgan Campaign is named for Herman "Sleepy" Morgan, a former SMU football coach and fundraiser. Morgan came to SMU as part of Rusty Russell's first coaching staff in 1950 and was the Mustang freshman coach for 25 of the next 26 years.

Morgan, who acquired the nickname "Sleepy" by falling asleep in one of his classes at Sulphur Springs High School, is still considered an SMU treasure. He quickly became one of the greatest recruiters in Southwest Conference history. His very first recruit was Port Arthur's great running back, Frank Eidom. Morgan's first class also included future Mustang greats Ed Bernet of Highland Park and Duane Nutt of Corsicana. Other Mustang greats recruited by Morgan included Forrest Gregg and Don Meredith.

When Sleepy retired from coaching in 1976 he wanted stay close to SMU and was encouraged by friends to help the Mustangs by raising money for the Mustang Club. He continued to use the same down-to-earth approach he said he learned naturally as a youngster on a farm in Sulphur Springs. Whether he was getting a great recruit or raising money, he was "putting hay in the barn for his Mustangs." Sleepy's approach was very personal. He would send a personal handwritten letters that became legendary. When asked why he did it this way, Sleepy said, "I do it to help the team and because I love SMU."

Morgan passed away in 1993 and the next year the SMU Mustang Club Board of Directors voted to change the name of the Mustang Club Annual Fund drive to the Morgan Campaign. Every year since, volunteers have worked to continue "putting hay in the barn" for the Mustangs.

That story always makes me "weepy"... :D Long live the story of Sleepy Morgan!

My season ticket (and additional donation) money is budgeted for March 15, unless I hit it big next week in Vegas, and then I will renew right after giving about $40,000,000 for the IPF and a new Natatorium.

Tried to renew mine online but got an error message saying my account was locked and I needed to call my smu rep to renew.

Anyone else have this problem?
