Loftus is the only punter listed on the roster... Greenbauer and Longoria both punted in HS, guess they would be the backups in that order this year

Longoria is supposed to be a really good punter I wouldn't be surprised if he wins the job if not this year then maybe the next. Texas was supposedly recruiting him as a punter. It would be nice to have someone with the athleticism of Longoria or Greenbauer back there handling punts. The other team would always have to be prepared for the fake. A rugby style punt with run option would be very nice on fourth down and short with either of those guys back there.

By mid-season, we're really going to be looking good with this much experience back.

We'll have a better shot against TCU this year than A&M because our passing game will start a little slow (all passing teams seem to), Kyle Field is a very tough venue, they have a lot of talented players back and Tannehill is a great college qb.

Tannehill is a great college QB? What did he start, 6 games??? Maybe for the Ags, that's great. He didn't look too sharp in the bowl game. Of course, LSU had a lot to do with that. Tannehill is good, but no better than Potts, Kinne, Dalton, and we played well against them. I agree, opening at Kyle Field is a challenge, and the Ags have improved from 2009. Beating the Ags on their home turf won't be easy. Still hoping the game gets moved to SA since ATM isn't honoring the home and home. C'mon Ags, become honorable. I may have to start rooting for the Cows to kick your [deleted] again since you don't fulfill contracts.

this is a good a chance as SMU will have in a few years to take down TCU. This is true of almost every team on TCU's schedule. The big question will be-- can the Frogs' opponents force the new QB to make mistakes?

Especially early in the season, the answer clearly is going to be yes.

Which leads to the second question-- will TCU's running game be dynamic enough to make those mistake irrelevant?

Most of the time that answer probably will also be yes. But not all the time, and that's where TCU's opponents have a chance to upset TCU.

TCU's offense doesn't really force the QB to make too many plays with his arm. I watched Pachell direct about 5-6 TD drives in a game this year-he's going to be fine running the offense and TCU has as many top returning RBs as any team in the Country. They are still going to be formidable on offense even if all they do well is run the ball. We will see about the Defense-but the talent level is high and the Defensive Coaching is about as good as it gets.

I would expect to see Longoria win the punting job, although don't count out Michael Sparling. He was a punter in high school, and a pretty good one. Rugby style, as y'all said...they always had to be prepared for the fake with him.

Don't count on it, Loftus was one of the top 10 punters in HS football in 08.
