What needs to happen in CUSA Play?

Postby ponydawg » Thu Feb 24, 2011 12:02 pm

Help me.

So we want SMU to finish in top 4 so we can get a first Round Bye.

Currently Rankings Are:

Southern Miss 9-4
Memphis 9-4
UAB 9-4
Utep 8-5
SMU 8-5
Tulsa 8-5
Marshall 7-6

I would assume we want Memphis to beat Utep this weekend and UH to beat UAB....but then my head hurts. Are there just too many options right now to know what needs to happen.....besides us to win out?

I think we want UTEP to beat Memphis as we play UTEP again. If we end up in a tie with Memphis we get the tiebreaker.

Seems we need to beat Marshall. IF we do, then we are 9-5. Then it doesn't matter between Mem-UTEP for now.

If Mem wins, UTEP falls to 8-6, one game back of us and we move to the 4th position. If UTEP wins, we are tied with MEM and we hold the tiebreaker. And this is just for one set of teams out of the 6 (7) we are competing against to get to the top four.

Now Tulsa is another issue for us. TU has Rice, Tulane and South Miss left. Not sure we can count on them losing another one.

UAB and South Miss play later so one of those two teams will have 5 losses within a week. UAB has Houston, South Miss and ECU. Maybe a loss in there and maybe not. South Miss has UCF, UAB and TU left. Once again, someone is going to loss the UAB-USM game.

Key, win Sat and the picture will start to clear a little though not much.
