Of course there could be much conference movement in the next couple of years, but based on today, do you not think Baylor and Tech will drop their games with us for the same reason Baylor dropped theirs this coming year?

If SMU had an easy schedule they would have even less chance of being a BCS buster. Undefeated with no wins against respected non-conference teams will not get SMU in a BCS bowl. A C-USA team cannot be a BCS buster without a tough non-conference schedule, just will not happen.

You just have to be good enough to beat those tough teams...

You missed the point...the schedule is too tough for SMU to win them next year as they are not quite ready, therefore they won't be a BCS mentioned team. When they play that type of non conference schedule and WIN, then they will be mentioned in BCS circles.

No, you missed my point. The problem is not that the schedule is too tough, it is that SMU is not good enough to sweep it. If the schedule was easier, it would not matter how good SMU was.

That's too obvious to even be a point to make....

Why not us? I mean I don't think its probable, but we are returning 18 starters...entire o and d lines...

Lets give ourselves a little credit...After watching us play with TCU last year and returning almost that whole team...why can't we be a top 20 team?

Whether we take that leap or not depends on Padron, he has to kick up his play a few notches for us to be a Top 20 team. Non-AQ teams don't break into the rankings with iffy QBs.

Agree. In addition, over the last couple of years it seems the team has done a great job of working hard in the off season. Offseason could be the key. We obviously need a strong start and need to be ready.

Not really. I think SMU has the potential to go to a BCS game eventually, I just don't think there's any chance it happens next year.

How many bowl wins did TCU string together before we got our first invite? Like eight? It's not an overnight process.

Agreed. I'd be ecstatic if we got to Top 25 any time in this coming season. BCS busters in 2011? Nope. Maybe a few years down the road.

4 straight bowl wins (2005-2008) then the Fiesta Bowl invite in 2009.

Nothing is for sure! Why not a bcs bowl game. Why do we have to wait another year and a half. You work hard and prepare to win every game...overcome any injuries while maybe some opponents don't prepare or have injuries or maybe a ref blows a call or two or some freshman tries to field a punt inside his five and fumbles and WE recover for a touchdown. It is not a stretch. Boise and TCU have shown the way! How many TCU people were attending their home games three years ago (maybe 20-30,000). How many TCU people were still playing the "woe is me pity card"(like the SMU people still do) for having been left out of the Big 12? Turns out being left out of the Big 12 was the best thing that could have happened for TCU. Sure, it is not fan friendly but how many fans would be going to watch a 3-9 Big 12 loser compared to a 13-0 BCS bowl team?
