i just dont see the rhyme or reason to his subbing. Doh has essentially given up on Clinkscales lately (just like he has given up on Harp and Walker at multiple points in the past), but then he puts Clink into the rotation in the second half when momentum is slipping. I just don't see why. If he was trying to work in young players for experience, thats something i would fully appreciate, but thats not the case. Our lineup goes way too small at times and we can't defend the paint. Getting nothing out of the Luttman scholarship is a huge miss when you brought the guy in as a juco and you wont let him off the bench to save his life. Huge miss that Doh has been given a pass on by about everybody. I like the personality of the team for the most part, but i still insist that we should be getting more out of Papa's senior season.

Heh, we are probably a bit too [deleted] Harp tonight...he missed both his freethrows and plays cruddy defense, but he did have one nice drive..the kid tries. I have no problem with him eating a minute when Papa or Nyakundi need a rest, or even eating a few minutes, if someone is in foul trouble. But that was not the case tonight, no excuse for him to play so many minutes tonight, God bless him.. Stick with the starters. I can understand Matt wanting to play his senior, and when the situation calls for it, he can eat some minutes...tonight though was not the case. I still have a sneaking feeling that Doh is setting us up for tournament gold and will blow people's minds next week...I certainly hope so!!!!

Luttman is a tough call, I sure wish we could have had more (actually, any) production from that Juco spot. Was Doh's call though, he feels more affinity to Harp subbing Dia than Luttman. Personally would not be my call, Luttman is a big body and a horse...Hell, he could come in, clog up the middle and put welts on the other teams big man when they try and put a shot up. I certainly hope Miles took advantage of the situation and gets his degree from SMU..He seems like a great guy, always has great energy and enthusiam, I really wish we would have gave him more of a shot. I would lament the fact that he chose the wrong D1 school to get a shot at the big time, but I think we gave him his only offer...so take advantage! I think it all comes back to Doherty feeling committed to Harp. IMO, this team would have been much better if Luttman would have gotten all those minutes Harp got.

I really don't know how bad Lutz and Tomas are as I've never been to practice. But common sense tells you junk fouls are good every now and again. Can they not play a few minutes on defense clog the lane and get rebounds?

Tomas is BAD, what a waste of a spot. He may very well be the first Mustang in forever to not get on the floor, much less start, on senior night.

While I would love to see Miles succeed, on the Miles v. Ryan debate I am squarely with Doh. I have been to most of the games this year, and Miles is, bless his heart, no where near ready to play D1 basketball right now. He is a big guy who has not yet learned to play hard. If he was in the game last night I would have expected to see him pick up very quick fouls while not stopping the scoring. He gives up a lot of three point plays by fouling but not fouling hard enough, and he cannot dish the ball. At least Ryan had three assists and a steal. Put Miles in there for 17 minutes and he would have likely had no points, no assists, no steals, a few fouls and UCF's offense would not have been slowed down in the slightest.
That said, I hope Miles is taking the opportunity in practice to learn this game. He'll get better.

This thread has meandered into paralysis by analysis. It's really simple, we have two kids that amount to firepower. When one doesn't perform, we lose. We have a lot of role players that don't want shots unless wide [deleted] open, which is why you saw Clink in the 2nd. Clink has never met a shot he didn't like.We passed on tons of looks, cause our kids don't shoot contested anymore. Same reason Clink was put in vs Memphis last year, when Walker was afraid to shoot. They were looking for a random spark by a kid who can fill it, but offers little else. We hadn't scored in a minute, so insert the kid who likes to score, that simple.
When you have 2 scorers, even if they are both hitting, droughts are going to happen. That's just a personnel thing. I keep reading about how its time to run away and hide, put some distance between us and the opposition. Better yet, if we're good enough to have a 10 pt lead, no excuse not to close it out. All of that is garbage. We don't have the personnel to run and hide from anyone. At some point, we're going to go very cold, and the other team is going to make a run. It could be a 4 or 5 minute stretch or 10. That's what happens when pretty much everyone you play has more horses. You can't system your way past talent every time.
I'm sorry but some of you guys are absolutely depressing about 'what could have been' etc. This isn't about wins/losses, it's about watching a system mature and visualizing it w/the proper parts. God forbid what it'll be like around here when we're actually loaded. If you folks adopted actual expectations for this squad, you must be expecting ridiculous things next year. Baby steps. This program is clearly on the mend in a big way. Enjoy the games and the ride, but don't get caught up in silly expectations. This team has 2, possibly 3 players that even see the court next year.

To the first sentence: Love the notion of that. And, hopefully, it's coming. To the second: Nuk is a given...JFrog and Losh the other two...of those two, which one gets the "possibly"...early on I wouldve thought JFrog..your thoughts hm/pd?
