30 For 30 Documentary On Fab Five To Air On Eve Of Tourney http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/ ... jalen-roseHow five college freshmen ignited a basketball revolution.
The two-hour film airs March 13 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN and depicts the story of Jalen Rose and his other Fab Five teammates, Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson. Called by some “the greatest class ever recruited,†the five freshmen not only electrified the game, but also brought new style with their baggy shorts, black socks and brash talk.
“The Fab Five†relives the recruitment process that got all five of them to Ann Arbor, the cultural impact they made, the two runs to NCAA title game, the Webber “timeout†in the 1993 championship and the scandal that eventually tarnished their accomplishments. http://jalenrose.com/press/espn-films-d ... -the-fab-5ESPN knows how to market their product.

I thought Pony Excess was the last 30 for 30?

This one, like the one about Steve Bartman, will be a 30-for-30 style film without the 30-for-30 branding.

I believe they have three additional documentaries which either weren't finished pursuant to scheduling or just didn't have the cred to make the final cut.
These additional docs will be titled "30 for 30 presents..."
If these do well we should expect to see additional documentaries from "30 for 30 presents..."

From the trailers I've seen, they are going with a branding of ESPN Films. You may be right, though.

The Fab Five are wipped out of the record books. Cash payments, etc and all banners removed from the Arena. It should be an interesting show on how to destroy a program. Meanwhile Fisher is leading San Diego State to a great year. I wonder how their "summer" job programs are working out for the program. LOL!

ESPN is hyping this film as if it is the second coming this morning.
The promos are starting with "From the Producers of 30 for 30" ...
and the films are under the ESPN Films banner rather than "30 for 30".
Jalen Rose was on Mike and Mike this morning and will be on other ESPN shows all day as they hype the film.
They are also taking a couple of thing from "The Thadsta" including a full two hours following a highly watched "Bracketology" show Sunday evening.
I love how M & M barely mentioned the "scandal" other than to say that the new Michigan Administration is finally making nice with the "Fab Five" now.
It worked for "Pony Excess" so I'm sure ESPN is hoping for a highly rated response.
Will be interesting to see the final ratings!

I hope the film is objective. Since Rose is one of the producers, I have my doubts.

I was looking forward to it until I saw an ad for it that showed one of the "other" guys (Jimmy King, I think) saying something like, "we were bigger than the outcome of the game."
That kind of attitude makes this whole project repulsive and makes me want to not see a single second of it.
That's the attitude I always hated about Michael Jordan, LeBron James (at least in "the Decision), Deion Sanders, etc. — any athlete who thinks he is bigger than the team, or bigger than the sport itself, deserves to be ignored.

I don't think PESH claims him - wasn't exactly the model student. Don't think he's a graduate.
