There's a hell of a lot more respect for Phil Bennett than there is for Mike Leach around the Big 12. Leach needs to learn to control his players. No matter how heated the discussion between the two coaches was, the issue should have stayed just between the two head coaches. And no matter to what degree Tech may have been frustrated, there's no call for them to start swinging. If Leach can't keep a reign on his players, there's no way in hell a parent should intrust the interests of their kids to that man's care.

OP, you dont remember seeing it, because it doesn't happen. I'll give Leach one thing, he's his own man. It will catch up to him somehow, but no one will ever lower themselves to doing exactly what he did, back to him. In other words, he can rest assured that he won't run into any coaches as classless as he is.

No way in hell Tech would schedule TCU, and playing in Denton has never raised anyone's profile.

Dallas is a very attractive market to play in if you are a school in the region that is stuck in the middle of nowhere (TT, A&M, OSU). And whether we want to admit it or not, we are currently a grade-A patsy.

I don't think we have to worry about scheduling games.

Fooball, Tech has scheduled TCU. They play in Lubbock this year, in two weeks and next year in Fort Worth. Leach was wrong. He doesnt observe common courtesy.

I believe last night was the last scheduled game in our series and TT does not show up on our future schedule. Despite last nights BS, I'm sorry to see the series end. There are lots of TT fans in Dallas and most of them are pretty decent folks. It could be a good rivalry game...but obviously that won't happen.

As to all this crap about other teams doing the same thing to Tech..Bullsh*t. They certainly did not run a hurry up offense with the first team in to try to get extra points in the waning seconds of a game. The fact of the matter is that Leach showed his insulting opinion of SMU all night by going for it on 4th and long over and over again. I'm happy to say that his low opinion of our players was misplaced as most of the time you did not succeed on those attempts including that last second touchdown attempt.

What you sow you will surely reap. Enjoy, enjoy.

Now get lost TT fans.

I was there too DFW Raider and you are wrong. Taking a knee is not the issue. There is no problem with playing 100% till the end, but when the clock is running, there are 15 seconds left and you are up by 2 touchdowns, you proudly walk off the field. Tech instead rushed to get off one last play. Perhaps the lowest thing I have ever witnessed in a game and Leach is responsible.

Aside from that I was impressed with the changes made in the offense and very inpressed with the defense other that 2 major breakdowns that cost points. A dropped interception did not help either. I found out that my season tickets are right behind Mr. Munlin (Foy's Dad). A very nice and knowledgable man that I will enjoy getting to know during the year. Eckert seemed to have a much stronger arm than Phillips, but I think Phillips still brings too much with the total package to give up on right now. But it is nice to know we have someone to fall back on and we have not even seen Romo yet.

Although I still expect 0 and 3 going into San Jose St game, I am willing to have hopes against TCU and am very excited about the future as these young men get used to the new system.

By the way, who is the cornerback #22 that played a significant amount of time? He made some good plays althoug ot burned once. My program did not show a corner with that number.

Las night was typical Leach, he has no class, he runs around Lubbock drunk most days.

These are the same Tech fans who jammed the goalpost into the A&M fan section.

These are the same Tech players who did the exploding grenade celebration on the Naval Academy, the same guys who defend our country from real threats.

Lack of class all the way around and it showed tonight.

Not sure. Other than the regular guys, the only other DBs who I saw get playing time were Johnnie Fitzgerald (who moved to DB from RB) and Brandon Jones, a freshman JC transfer.

that CB was junior college transfer Brandon Jones and he saved two touchdowns last nite. We've had a slew of CBs around here-some with pretty big reputations-who although quick and fast simply couldn't do what Jones did last nite and that is compete for the ball in the air. Yea he got beat some but that will happen when they other team throws 70 passes. I hope that was a sign of things to come because we desperately need to upgrade the CB situation and compete for passes and get some interceptions and turnovers. We have been beaten by the big plays by so many CBs in the last few years and ours have rarely contributed with the interceptions and knockdowns we need.

Thanks, Stallion. I was impressed with the entire defense but especially the corners and safeties. Much improvement. There was a completely blown coverage, but they immediately got together and figured out the mistake and got back on course. That will happen. I also saw some very fast pursuit and hard hits from Muse. We definitley have the makings of a forward moving team for the future. Do not think we are ready for the Nationl Championship, but a lot more exciting things to come.

I am going to retract my statement that Leach's action at the end of the game was the worst I had ever witnessed. If I recollect correctly, several years ago the Washington Redskins had the Cowboys down very late in a game. I think it was Theisman (rhymes with Heisman) that took a knee one or two times and then on the final down faked taking a knee and hit a streaking wide out down the field for a touchdown. Leach'e antics tie that one.

DFW Raider wrote:This is not Tech's loss at all. Both TCU and North Texas will schedule us in a heartbeat because we have a huge DFW alumni base and bring tons of fans. SMU can't put fans in it's seats unless Tech comes to town, and your football program operates in the red. OSU doesn't fill up your stadium and neither does TCU. I have no doubt that Big 12 teams will play SMU, but none of them aside from Tech are going to give SMU a 50/50 home and home arrangement, and none of them aside from Tech, UT, or A&M are going to sellout your stadium for you.

TCU and North Texas don't represent a majority of "DFW". The top kidsare in Dallas. People in Dallas couldn't give a rats @[deleted] about TCU or UNT.

SMU will draw fans as soon as it starts winning. That's the way Dallas is. Its population supports winning teams, and bad teams (even the Cowboys of the late 80s) don't draw anyone. Dallas isn't like lubbock, where even when your team is mediocre (see: 50 years without an outright conference championship) it draws fans because there is NOTHING else to do in that "city."

Mike Leach can call his tactics anything he wants. However, loudly he announces it to the world and openly teaches it to his players (who seem to buy in), it's still poor sportsmanship and cheap, regardless of the euphamistic terms he attaches. And even your most ardent fans know his brains are mostly housed in is d!ck. Thousands of Lubbock women apparently have spoken. Dumb and classless is as lethal combination.

Another point about Leach is its not as if he doesn't have an excellent running back. If you had a bunch of fumbling, stumbling backs, it MIGHT be excusable to pass in that situation instead of taking a knee. Still doubtful. He should have chosen to work on his running game instead of the 2 minute drill with nothing on the line. You can go all out effort with your first string, and accomplish just as much or more by run blocking. There is no excuse for what he did, it was plain and simple trying to run up the score to make himself look better and/or embarrass the opponent. That isnt done in college football. I'm not even mad about it, its over, and its almost funny what a baffoon he is for trying that. No hard feelings toward the Tech fans at all, I spoke to a couple cool ones.

DFW Raider, you've become a popular man on this board in a short amount of time. Nice to see someone make alllll those observations about a program when your own programs has problems of its own. Has Lubbock ever figured out that UT and aTm really DON'T consider Tech the 'rival' they think they are? I've lived on the south plains previously, and I've seen those have-empty stands vs. Baylor, vs. Mizzou, and the like. Seems Bob Knight was [deleted] recently about the apathy from fans out there.
