Official SMU/UTEP Game Thread: Senior ThreadModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Official SMU/UTEP Game Thread: Senior ThreadRGV - Rob is our best outside shooter based on stats! He was limited in shots tonight despite playing major minutes. He did other things well. Sometimes in an offense ( Bob Knight's motion for example) the "screener" who immediately opens to the ball has a great opportunity to shoot after the screen. We don't run motion obviously but as you know Rob can improve on his game by learing to shoot off the dribble, get to the free throw line, etc. That is not being critical of his game because he certainly has helped this team win 17 games going into the tournament. UTEP defended him very well tonight. He has to create "space" somehow ( Reggie Miller was great at that) and get his shot off.
Re: Re: Official SMU/UTEP Game Thread: Senior Thread
I am aware of that (sentence one). UTEP defended him very well, as they knew that as well. I agree with sentence two ; that is how Losh got a wide open look in the next to last possession.
Re: Official SMU/UTEP Game Thread: Senior Threadthe only way we are going to advance deep into the CUSA Tourney is for guys to have the confidence to take those open looks when they are there, whether it is Losh, Walker, Mangrum or whoever. Can't have everyone sitting back waiting for Rob and Papa to do all the scoring. They will get theirs...especially if the other guys contribute enough to keep defenses honest
Re: Official SMU/UTEP Game Thread: Senior Thread
Come on, Losh played 4 minutes yesterday. He's a team kid that passed an open look. He defers too much, but he'll get his sea legs. Kid has a good skill level
Re: Official SMU/UTEP Game Thread: Senior Threadmy comment was too harsh - its been edited.
I think he plays very tentatively. Hopefully he will gain some confidence in th eoff-season. He passed on a wide open 3 to tie the game - and that shot is suppose to be his strength.
Re: Official SMU/UTEP Game Thread: Senior Thread
just saw this..yep, outrebounded, outshot (52%-30%), out-assisted by 2:1. Two guys had 50 of the 67 points. Like us, have to have more than a couple guys fill it would really be nice to have kyrie irving healthy to go with rivers next year...be tough to pass up the $.
