So, About Next Year...

Will we have all hands on deck next year and eliminate excuses for the Doh apologists out there? Are all the Euros now cleared? I got a little confused mid season with some of the updates on here. Clarification would be much appreciated.

are we really expecting freshmen to make the jump to D1 and become instantly successful? Aside from Williams, these guys are going to have to take their lumps and gain experience. And losing Dia as well, our possible CUSA MVP? I look at 2013

I'm a season ticket holder and have been for every miserable year Doh has been here. My boycott of going to the games lasted two games, so don't paint me as a drive by. I'm one of the few people crazy enough to support this car wreck.

Now if you could get off your high horse and help me with my question, I'd be grateful.

not on a high horse, nor have I been. Didnt paint you as a drive by either. Was sincere. A reasonable person would have made a similar presumption as I; specifically that based on your comments maybe you'd like to come to a game. I think it would be a much bigger leap for me to have presumed that you've sat through too many Doh games and have been boycotting basketball.

Losh played this season, which leaves one "Euro," Vilde. I suspect he'll play. I'll defer to someone else to confirm.

Why does anyone want to answer roster questions, when you just want to bash, no matter what you're told. IF you care and want to know, do the research, bump some old threads, but don't ask good fans, for good info, just to antagonize.

I'm going on record. Doh is a coaching genius, and I like the guy too. :-)

Just because I don't agree with you, don't dismiss my point of view. This is a message board and we are here to discuss. I personally don't think a .400 (SMU)career record, and a job best .500 league record deserves another half million dollars next year. He already has earned over $2 million during his time here and has produced below any measurable expectations.

I know he won't be let go, but it doesn't change the fact that he hasn't earned the right to collect another paycheck from SMU. I want to know who is eligible next year because I'm very invested in this program and will be long after Doh is gone. Like everyone else, I think he is a great/nice person, but I still don't think he is the right coach for SMU anymore. I have championed having him moved to an Asst. AD type position because he is a great personality and would probably be a great full time fundraiser.

I'm not bashing, I'm stating that I don't think Doh has earned another season. I have never seen anyone else argue a solid basketball point on why he should return (with the exception of PonyDoh in the past talking about rehabbing the position.)

Not Sure why everyone jumped all over RE Tycoon...Guy asks a legitimate question....

Is everyone we need going to be eligible, and if so, what happens if the results are the same as this year...?

These future guys have been built up more than any SMU team I can remember, so what are possible excuses for next year?

Calling the guys that have followed the program and posted all year "Doh apologists" is not the best way to get the answer to the question. He threw out the incendiary statement then gets defensive. If you want info, just ask and don't take pot shots at the guys who have the info - save the pot shots at doh for another thread. I was actually going to ask the same question, so I hope some one answers this.

And don't say you are heavily invested in the program if you really have no idea about what is going on.

I'm so sorry I'm not tied into the program like you and have access to fire side chats with the coaches or other personnel. I rely on this site, Rivals, Scout and PonyDoh to give me bball info. I've never seen a definitive answer from any of the above sources.

I spend a lot of time and money supporting SMU bball, so yes I am invested. I'm here for the long term and will support SMU long after Doh is gone no matter if that is 10 days or ten years.

I am not in the loop other than what I read on the various sites either, but I will take a shot at answering the question.

Leslee Smith - will be a freshman with 4 years to play 4
Ricmonds Vilde - will be a freshman with 4 years to play 4
Shawn Williams - will be a sophomore with 3 years to play 3 (not eligible until January)
London Giles - will be a junior with 2 years to play 2
Aleksei Patsevich - will be a senior in last year of eligbility (although I think I read he might appeal for another year?)

As mentioned earlier, there is just one "Euro" but I assume the question applied to all of them.

As for the incoming freshman, I am not up to speed on how safe they are in terms of eligibility, but they are at least all US kids.

I would say year after next we should be at the top of the CUSA unless something happens - kids leave, get hurt, etc.
