Actually, he went to some directional school in Oklahoma when he left SMU, but has since headed to California. Not sure if that's the guy in question, nor does it matter, since the violator no longer works at SMU, apparently.

you're right. Forgot about NEO.

This would include annual classes, comprehensive training for new hires, updates by e-mail as necessary and so on. If there is ever a Sports Management major at SMU the same classes would be one of the requiremnts.

Our current chief compliance officer is a very arrogant, dogmatic and pompus personality who grates on the nerves of everyone. The nature of the job almost dictates a bit of a dictating and somewhat adversarial relationship with the coaches, but is compounded at SMU with a difficult personality with whom people do not enjoy working.

boy, when you're right, you're right. They hate her

OK- we get your schtick on the Morgan campaign. Even though doh managed to totally screw us on his contract I can not begin to imagine that we did not have a clause where he could not be dismissed for any violations/sanctions caused by him or his staff. Therefore, no buyout. He can be dismissed with cause. Now is time for Orsini to act! This clown has taken 5 years to get substandard results at best.
BTW- this year was next year last year when all the rainbowers were saying just wait til next year. After 5 years and a joke of a schedule we see what the results have been.
Those who claim to have Doh's back have no basis to stand up for him. He is responsible for his staff and they committed the violations ergo he must go.

GO PONIES!!!

I would be pretty sure that Doh's contract does not permit dismissal for sanctions stemming from NCAA violations such as these, and certainly not involving his staff. This is a small matter, and much as you might like to see it lead to Doh's dismissal, that just won't happen.

And I do see what the results have been, SMU is finally putting a competitive team on the court and has a stable of possible/probable studs-in-waiting.

Okay, so basically what you're saying is you want our AD to can two consecutive basketball coaches for minor infractions. First, before you really even have the job, fire the guy the previous AD hired for mysterious laundry detergent infractions and then never really let the true story out. Then, fire your own hand picked guy and say the reasons are very minor infractions based on bad compliance advice that were self-reported. You are actually hoping our athletic director takes this course of action, just so we're clear.

Yeah, that sounds like a wonderfully bold strategy. Coaching candidates will just be lined up around the block to work for a guy that does that.

I just want to know what part of Major Violations = small matter

After reporting the violations to the NCAA, SMU hired an outside firm to conduct an investigation. It found that 16 impermissible messages had been sent to parents of recruits over a three-month period, based on available phone records. Because the text messaging occurred over two years (2007-2009), the NCAA and SMU estimated the total number of impermissible text messages to be not more than 100. All were limited to the men’s basketball program; no other SMU programs were involved. Although each text message would constitute only a secondary violation, the total number and duration of the texting elevated the violations to major

"major" as used by the NCA, as is clearly illustrated by this whole happy-dance, does not mean "major" in any qualitative way. I do not consider the sanctions that we imposed on ourselves to me major, and I consider the whole thing to be a "small matter". But that's just me. People should feel free to jump of any ledges they like :)

every part of these 'major' violations make it a small matter

Ok...what happens if we get another not Real major but major violation next year....Will it matter then...

What if we get 3 in 5 years...will they be "major" then...

You guys can sell it however you want...its not a good thing....

I'm happy for the progress just don't understand how we can forget about 4 years and a not "major" violation...

I certainly will be watching closely next season...
