Don Meredith Upcoming TV InterviewThis Wednesday morning starting at 8 a.m. on the hour until noon, TXCN will air a half-hour long interview with former SMU All-American QB Don Meredith.
Dandy Don will talk a lot about his SMU days in the piece (and he takes some digs at the froggies), and it was shot in early July of this year. It's the first interview he's done since 2000 in Sports Illustrated, and he had a lot of cool stuff to say. Check it out at 8, 9, 10, 11 and noon on Wednesday, then again at 7:30 p.m. in primetime. It'll replay on Sunday the 12th at 8 am, 10 am and noon.
I hear he's in New Mexico these days? What's his deal?
I loved it when he sang "Turn out the lights, the party's over!!!" on MNF.
I liked it when he gave Howard Cosell the business.
That guy was a major league you-know-what. I'll be watching for sure.
Re:He lives near Santa Fe, New Mexico. Nice place to live if you can afford it! He's retired and the climate there is better for his health.
Thanks Mr. Mustang.
I guess he's tired of the limelight and whatnot, right? Because I never hear or see him on anything these days, and I think it's been like that for awhile, right?
Dandy Don said he was going to law school at SMU, and then the Cowboys and Lamar Hunt's Texans both chose him in 1960. Pretty fascinating stuff.
Dandy DonI had the pleasure of attending SMU with Don. My GF and I even double dated with him and his once. A nicer guy you would not find and the most exciting player on the field of football I have ever seen. May his remaining years be blesssd!
And he put Mt. Vernon, Texas on the map! I can't count the number of times he mentioned his hometown on ABC's "Monday Night Football"!
Trivia tidbit: MNF was produced by another SMU alum, Bob Goodrich, Jr. whose father was the director of The Mustang Band in the 50s. The elder Goodrich went on to be the minister at Dallas' First United Methodist Church and then a bishop of the Methodist Church, based in Houston.
They've already started running snippets of the interview on their sports shows.
Saw Dandy joking about his broken nose yesterday, and then also saying that on MNF Howard Cosell made his job easy, because Cosell always said something stupid Dandy could rip apart.
Nobody played in more games at the Cotton Bowl than Dandy Don.
4 years with SMU, 9 with the Cowboys.
Re:"The House That Doak - and Don! - Built!" SMU needs to retire DM's jersey, too!
