We didn't buy an invite, they already invited us. We bought a home game. Guess what it costs to buy pretty much any home game? Guess what it cost to get a school like UALR to Moody? Wake up, folks

I cannot understand why anyone is against this. We have paid for the right to have more practice, more exposure, more learning of a system that they are just now beginning to learn. If anyone posting here has to put up some or all of the $30,000 then you may have a reason to be upset if you so desire. No one is making fans go to the game. They are going because they would like to see a game. I wish I could be there. I was having a very bad recovery from my recent medical issues and at 9:00 on Wednesday night I was suffering so badly I could not watch or listen to the Rice game. Having lost I was very sorry to have missed the final game. Now I have an opportunity to see or listen to another game. That is what fans like to do.

Nobody, I hope, thinks this is a classy tourney that is an indication of our strength and prowess, but it is farther than we have gotten in several years. Just think, last year we could not even buy our way into a tourney.

Those that think this is so bad, please explain the downside. I doubt very much we lose our 4 game losing streak momentum if we were to lose the first game.

If you are a fan, be glad we have at least one more game.

DOH has never won a conference tournament game. Can't believe any recruit would be remotely impressed that SMU paid to get into this tournament.

I ran across this article about Stanford & their post season investment a couple of years ago.

Since people are so pissy about how much SMU is spending on this, let's try this one.

Granted the prestige is huge and there is potentially some revenue to be made, but anyone want to speculate a program has to spend on traveling a team, coaching staff, support staff and athletic department officials to travel to the first round, stay in a hotel for a couple of nights, arrange meals, hand out per diems and ground transportation?

For SMU? Players and coaches burning some calories walking from the Crum Center to Moody.

It's not a bad thing to play the game-it can only help. Just don't spin it like it's a big accomplishment. Like football, we've gone from amazingly awful to just ok, only the bar in basketball for "OK" is much lower.

It's a good accomplishment for these kids. They fought hard and played over their heads all year. The bar in basketball is higher than football, b/c the ceiling of the program is higher. This is the armed forces bowl w/a roundball

lol, most of the NCAA tourney isn't on TV nationally. Get better criteria. Armed Forces bowl was two 500 football teams, w/o a decent win between them. God Bless the football team, but be real. That was a crapfest

Yeah, what hoopmanx said - True TV is even having early NCAA tournament games. Remember OTEOMS - the Armed services bowl was played during the week in the early afternoon and was one of the lower rated bowls. Lots of folks were unhappy we ended up there. I am not bagging on the bowl, just saying it was not not where we ultimately want to go. I am happy for football and for basketball this year. Let's just call it like it is - the team improved and will likely improve more.

Our seniors and particularly the CUSA Defender of the Year, who had a fantastic year and maybe gets the CUSA Player of the year, gets another game or two. Please tell me what is wrong with that?

The Ponies played way above expectations this year. Yes, the end of the season sucked, but there's not one of us here who thought we'd win 17 games. Nobody is suggesting this is like meeting Ohio State for the NCAA championship. It's not. But considering it has been more than a decade since we got ANY post-season invitation, yes - this is an accomplishment. Is it "great?" No. But it's better than we have done in a long time, and I'm driving to Dallas for the game.
If (sorry ... WHEN) we win, I'll be back for the second round, too.
Go Ponies!
