Coaching changes/firingsAlready a few..saw Jim Les at Bradley and Keno Davis at Providence to name a couple. Always liked Davis after running into the Drake contingent at a hotel in Indy the year he had them 28-5.
Seems probable that every CUSA job will remain unchanged.
Re: Coaching changes/firingsJim Les and Steve Lutz went after it this year, both during and after the Creighton/Drake game. Good stuff
Coaching changes/firingsLes took a team to the sweet 16 in the last 5 years. Not to mention my brother is a former trustee at Bradley and I know they don't have the cash we do.
Re: Coaching changes/firingsKeno Davis was in and out of Providence pretty quick.
Re: Coaching changes/firingsPelphrey was fired today at Arkansas.

Re: Coaching changes/firingsWas Hewiit that bad at Georgia Tech as they fired him yesterday as well?...he took them to the NCAA's 4-5 times------ and would he now be a fit at Arkansas now?
Re: Coaching changes/firings
There was a story that speculated that Arkansas would first pursue current Missouri and former Nolan Richardson assistant Mike Anderson.
Re: Coaching changes/firingsThe fan base would kill for Mike Anderson. His only problem is his inability to interview well. He is not a smooth talker. Those that have overlooked that flaw have enjoyed him as a coach.

Re: Coaching changes/firingsPaul Hewitt was an abysmal practice & bench coach, but an unbelievable recruiter. He probably has 8-10 kids in the league, several lottery, and never went over 500 in the ACC. I don't see him winning in any league where it doesn't matter if he can recruit over his head. For example, at a mid-major, he could pull high major kids, I have no doubt and has before. At Tech, he gets elite recruits, but so does UNC/Duke etc.
Too bad we don't have any scholarships to try and pilfer someone out of he Hawgs current class like Devonta Abron
Re: Coaching changes/firingsThis is kind of an example of, do you fire a coach who has a top class coming in? Arkansas just felt they could not continue to lose attendance and fan base. It will be interesting to see if they can keep them all.

Re: Coaching changes/firings
It just needs to be a swift and decisive hire. If they want Anderson or Buzz, don't miss. Those guys will keep the class in tact. Start to get much farther than that, and it becomes their last search w/Altman etc. It'll be interesting to see how both the Hawg and NC State hires play out. Both have a very passionate fan base, but are also known for heavy, in some cases, unrealistic expectations.
Re: Coaching changes/firingsHewitt, who took the Yellow Jackets to the national championship game in 2004, muddled through his fourth losing season in the last six years.
"At the end of the day we just didn't win enough games," Hewitt told The Associated Press on Saturday. "It's part of the business." In the end, the financial impact of a half-filled arena for Georgia Tech's home games overwhelmed the $7.2 million buyout Hewitt will be paid over five years. http://www.ldnews.com/collegesports/ci_17601058 That's $7.2 large. Will we see a new Disney add....you just got fired...what are you going to do? I'm going to Disney World.
Re: Coaching changes/firings
I sort of see Hewitt going to a big program as a recruting coordinator and associate head coach.
Re: Coaching changes/firings
He'd be a fantastic hire for anyone, if only to recruit.
Re: Coaching changes/firings
Family went to Fayetteville on Sunday to see the new nephew. My wife said they were at a restaurant in the square near campus when a TV news crew walked in to get reaction about the change. She said people want Anderson. I guess Nolan Richardson still carries a lot of weight because my brother in law said he gave Anderson his blessing to take it. There was a rumor that he was going to interview right after Missouri was done in the tournament.
