The first attempt or the putback? And shame on the ORU kid for missing that putback. That was a gimme.

I know Dia had a bad back, but don't allow them to come in there uncontested.

Dia couldn't move. On replay, he couldn't have done less or more lol. Mangrum should have dumped that kid in the front row, though I think he got hit in the gonads. 45 or the guy with the long dreads was slapping at him in the stomach and I think hit more. His walk off the court also looked a little hurtful down in the groin area.

LOL. He was walking like he had rickets so his junk wouldn't accidentally bump into a leg.

The end of regulation fiasco, I think the refs actually got right.

ORU shot the ball with 1 second on the shot clock, it DID graze the rim, so no shot clock violation, the ball was fumbled around a couple of times up high, but Papa Dia snagged it, there was not a put back attempt, just the ball bouncing off a couple of hands.

The Ref did not see Doherty call for timeout and papa Dia launched his full court shot that was actually very close to going in, just a bit to the side. The clock operator did stop the clock when Doherty was running at the ref, maybe the ref even blew the whistle.

When they watched the replay, it was determined that no timeout was granted before Dia shot, once he shot, we couldnt call a timeout. The ball hit the side of the backboard and rolled to center court. When the refs watched the replay, they decided no timeout was given and the clock was stopped in error with .5 seconds, so they waved off the last .5 and we went to overtime.

In my mind, the refs got it right.

On the Haynes freethrows, I as well thought that Papa took a nut shot, and it wasnt his back, not sure though. Was glad to see him come back out.

I was suprised by that rule as well, I thought the colleges let you sub the player out if he was hurt and his replacement shot them. I knew they were talking of changing the rule, but did not realize they had. Haynes knocking those down was probably my favorite memory of the night. CLUTCH!
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

Thanks for your perspective. I can see how your scenario is likely true...

I didn't think there was any way .5 seconds could be left since Papa's shot hit the backboard. Your idea about one of the officials blowing his whistle and the clock operator stopping the clock makes a lot of sense.

The fact they actually were reviewing the tape to see if ORU's shot hit the rim makes a lot of sense as well.

I'll buy it.
