Finally, someone who knows what they are talking about...Techsan-81. I go on here all the time and just laugh at most of you. Its ridiculous. Why dont ya'll just wait to see what happens at TCU. None of you know what is going through Bennett and Burns minds right now. You comment on here like you are in the coaching meetings. And another thing, I really hope that none of hte guys tkae what you say on here seriously bc most of you are so neg...well to all the QBs except for Phillips. Who are any of you to say that one is better than the other?? Stop trying to hold on to something that you probably didn't have in high school or college. And sorrysummer comes on and likes eckert and automatically PK thinks its a relative. WEll then 90% of you must be Phillips relative bc you LOVE HIM. STOP BEING HYPOCRYITICAL. Be supportive of the whole time. GOD, eckert DOES get a TD and ofcourse the only way is bc it was against the second string. SAY GOOD JOB....and keep mean comments to yourself.

I really don't care who is the QB as long as they get the job done. Sorrysummer1 didn't come on here and say "I like Eckert", that would have been fine, but he had to attack Philips by saying that by using him we will be EMBARRASED. That was uncalled for, and certainly doesn't fall into your idea that we should just be supportive of the whole team (which I always have been). As I said, we should let the coaches make the coaching decisions about who the QB is going to be, they certainly have a better basis for making that decision then anyone on this board.

BTW, we have had relatives and close friends of players such as a certain friend of Richard Bartel who often made similar outlandish posts which is why I suggested that perhaps Sorrysummer1 was a relative.

After reading the comments, it seems that hardly anyone "doesn't care who the qb is as long as they get the job done" Not to be "outlandish" but Phillips didn't get the job done and Eckert went in with not a lot of time left and did get his job done. even if sorrysummer is related, do you blame him for being opinionated?? A lot of people are bashing Eckert. It gets ridiculous on this site. Can you imagine how yall make the players feel??

You should drop into the Tech boards and see how Cumbie is getting savaged for his "awful" performance. Never mind it was, statistically, the best debut ever for a Tech QB. Lots of Tech fans are convinced he's going to be our downfall.

It would seem that you are doing the same thing you accuse everyone else of doing stang33, so you lose some of your credibility. One can certainly be opinionated without putting the other guy down...you have assumed that Phillips would not have gotten the job done if he had been left in...we will never know now will we. Once again, you have suggested we should support the whole team...I would suggest you follow your own advise.

Go Mustangs, all of you, Beat TCU!!!!

Some Facts:

TCU has beaten SMU 5 years straight. by a combined score of 158-36. SMU was winless last year
SMU only had 7 TD's all season last year
TCU has had the #1 Defense in the Nation twice in the past 4 years

SMU is improved but TCU is way better than TECH. TCU is on a totally different level than Tech, we've been Top 25 for 4 years and put together 3 10-win seasons, and 7 straight bowls. Last week was an average opponent, this week will be your wakeup call to Big Time college football. This will make 6 straight......Cross Town Whipping Boy!

TCU is way better? Sagarin, for one, has TCU at a 75.41 rating while Tech is at 76.73. That does not sound like a different tier to me.

TCU should be harder since it is a road game but we shall see what happens. I hope the TCU players have your attitude.

Last year was an anomoly because TCU was #6 in the nations and SMU was basically an ant that was going to get run over by an 18-wheeler. We lost the game to SMiss that blew our BCS lock and the team wasn't very excited to play the little ant. We always beat you and we always will. Winning breeds winning and Losing breeds losing. You will see this in all aspects of TCU, which just past UT as the 2nd most selective school in the state, behing Rice. While SMU academics appear to be sub-par just like the football team. Your football team is improving and I'm looking forward to at least and interesting game, but no real scare. A nice little warmup for conference play and chance to re-assert our dominance over the metroplex. Even the media cover the game has come to realize TCU owns DFW. On channel 8 last night, they interview Patterson and the whole conversation was how bad will you run up to score on helpless SMU and do you believe in putting in 3rd string to stop the pain, should you kneel the ball, etc. Not a very exciting matchup when SMU is so weak.

A compendium of 28 ratings has Tech at #32 and TCU at #36, FYI.

Those are based on one game. I don't give preseason polls much credit.
By season end look for TCU to be Top 10 again and for Tech to be around #25, also look for SMU to have a winning record based on last week's performance. Seems to me SMU always plays well in front of a crowd, regardless of whether the crowd is cheering for or against them. This will help in the TCU game, probably the biggest crowd SMU will ever see (45,000).

So, you are predicting a sell-out?

Thanks for predicting a winning season for SMU. Sorry that I can not agree with your prediction for TCU to be top 10. You are dreaming. And you say "again." When was TCU in the top 10 at the end of the season?

TCU reached the Top 10 in 2000 and 2003. This may seem like a dream to a SMU fan but for TCU it is expected.

TCU may have gotten a whiff of the top 10 during those seasons, and props to them, but the statement was regarding the end of the season.

Also note, just as you do not like pre-season polls, you can not live in the past. Our fortunes are turning in opposite directions. Enjoy the frozen tundra of the MWC.

MWC will be enjoyed. MWC is ahead of Big East, WAC, C-USA and is 5th conference behind #4 Big 12. MWC starts season with dominant win over A&M, BYU beating Notre Dame, CSU should've beat Colorado, and TCU will always be tough. If you can't have ACC, SEC, Big 10, or Pac 10....then MWC and Big 12 are you're next best bet.
