The problem is that 1 particular poster wants to rehash that Tubbs was shafted at every available opportunity. That same poster thinks that Doherty should be fired or should already have been fired and as a result is upset with the current results. That same poster does not see improvement in coaching this year because the improvement is due to the new assistants so it does not count. That poster also probably wants to impose his will and have Doherty fired for not taking us to the NCAA tournament in 5 years as a coach at SMU.

But if the football team doesnt win at #15 a&m or win at defending rose bowl champ tcu, their season is a failure.

there is a price to be paid for accepting an irrelevant role in the Dallas media market. You guys don't want to accept what happens when SMU plays schools nobody cares about for 5 straight years. You were told on the front end exactly what happens. 894 for a Championship Tournament.

I haven't seen anyone state that TCU and Texas A&M are must wins. I don't think there is such a thing as a must win. It's about overall body of work. If you want to say that we must have a winning record in both sports then I would agree with you. On the other hand if you expect the football team to contend for a BCS bowl next season then they are all must wins. If you expect the basketball team to contend for an NCAA tournament berth than I think they have to go 25-5 or better and beat some good teams on our schedule whoever that may be.

I think it is a fair trade off to participate in this tournament. We get some additional wins, hopefully win our 20th tonight and the season ticket office can point to 20 wins to increase season ticket sales. It also helps to pitch recruits that we won 20 games. You have to walk before you run. We are not going to compete for big-time area players by simply scheduling some good ooc teams. We have to be able to show we can win some games, otherwise Baylor, UT, Tx A&M, Tech, and now TCU can point to their conference affiliation if the schedule is the sell. I think this tournament is exactly the type of teams we need to schedule next season. After we prove ourselves against this caliber of teams we can upgrade to some better opponents, ie top 50 rpi.

Bc those two games,as well as navy, are our only opportunity for legit wins ooc. We have no idea what the hoops schedule holds next year. Those three losses in fball would be like losing 10 games ooc in hoops percentage wise, just on number of gamea played total. Plus, u can grab better wins in cusa, in hoops, during the season

here's what you won't hear, if we lose those games...me being a [deleted] about them. IF we lose, I'll just lose some interest but will still follow/watch, and probably won't post about it. If hoops loses tonight, it'll be drive-by central tomorrow, fanned by guys that don't watch games. It is what it is, time for both revenues to win some profile OOC games. Football has 3 shots at that, not sure how many hoops will have next year, but hopefully many. None of them are must win for either coach, in terms of security.
