After SMU beat Rice by 12-7 in 1953, Duane Nutt (15) enjoyed a ride on his teammates' shoulders. Also in the pic are Dale Moore (25), Sam Stollenwerck (14), Dole Carter (54). On the far left is the great Raymond Berry (87).

Rice went to the Cotton bowl after the '53 season.

Saw a great photo tonite at Dickey's BBQ on Central Expressway at Knox Street. It's of the SMU team that defeated the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in October 1951. Photo was taken in the locker room after the game.

I have seen the game film of that '51 game. It is in color and the Irish look more like the GB Packers. And it is one exciting game to watch even without sound.

This is for Mr. Mustang 1965. I enjoyed meeting you and your delightful fiancée this weekend. I believe this pic is self-explanatory. I hope we have a few more in the very near future.

This pic is by compliments of ponylb, which I don’t believe has ever posted, but is an avid reader of this site.

This pic has a unique characteristic. This pic was picked up by the wire services and published in several newspapers across the nation. This is from the 1953 SMU vs. Missouri game. SMU won that day 20-7.

Bill Fox (52) is putting the final touches on the Mizzou back. The other Mustang is Hal O'Brien (20).

These are the cover of two handouts that the SMU members team received aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. The Kitty Hawk hosted a lunch for both SMU and BYU prior to the Holiday Bowl in 1980.The yellowish pamphlet was the program for the day and the white pamphlet has facts about the Kitty Hawk. The luncheon itself was held in a hanger deck with the teams surrounded by various aircraft. This ship had just returned from the Persian Gulf after being stationed near Iran during the hostage crisis.

In keeping with Planostang's above post, I add the team itinerary for the SMU/TCU game on Sept. 11, 1976. Ron Meyer was very business like in his approach. Everything is timed to the minute. The bottom portion represents the 'steps to victory'. Of Note, D K Perry returned the opening kick off that night and SMU won 34-14. Let us hope that history repeats itself this Saturday.

This is the cover of the scouting report for the SMU/TCU game on Sept. 20,1980. The cover gave the general theme for that week. Obviously the theme was intensity. The first page had the psychological preparation. This detailed a day-by-day mental preparation for the TCU game. The next page would have a brief summary of TCU. Next would be a personel chart showing each defensive position (this is a scouting report for the SMU offense) with height and weight listed. Then a list and chart of anticipated defensive fronts and coverages.

Go Ponies! Beat TCU!

This is the cover to the NTSU/SMU game in 1980. Though we will not be playing North Texas, it does express some sentiments that many of us harbor. It is time to get tough and we are all running a little low of patience. And I hope the Ponies just want to hit somebody!

Beat TCU!

This is the Sunday Dallas Morning News Sports page of Nov. 23, 1980. SMU had beaten the Hogs the day before. This is one of Dickerson's TDs that day. SMU had a record day as 3 Ponies rushed for over 100 yards (James, Dickerson, Mitchell Bennett).

Also, on Nov 22, 1980, Mae West died.

This is the cover to the Holiday Bowl Kickoff Luncheon. Many of San Diego's dignitaries were at this luncheon as were both teams.
