How many people do you think get arrested outside a bar for saying something to a cop that is clearly protected free speech? Again, enforcing authority not the LAW

i guess my question is why do some people insist on trying to exercise free speech by being a [deleted] to cops? there's quite a line between saying something and being a smarta$$, and quite often, people broad jump over the line. "i pay your salary." "you work for me." no need to act like that.

Agpar says unlike DWI investigations where there are field sobriety tests, public intoxication arrests are largely left to the discretion of the officer. He says a policy change implemented by the Dallas Police Department months ago to improve the accuracy of public intoxication arrests often aren't followed.

"Officers are still arresting people and not performing investigations. Of course there are no field sobriety tests or breath or blood tests, so they are just putting people in jail."

But, Dallas police officials say the updated policy is being used by officers to provide more details about why a suspect may be not only drunk, but a danger to themselves or others. Authorities say officers must rely on their judgment and experience to make the call.

"Can officers make a bad assessment, that can happen. But, that is what the courts are for to see what the officer may have overlooked," police spokesman, Lt. C.L. Williams, said.

buddy of mine was arrested for standing in a flowerbed at Two Rows on a crowded Tuesday night. No room to stand. Cops starts bugging him about it, my buddy asks him for his badge number, cop arrests him for PI. My buddy was on his second beer. Happens all the time. Some good cops and a lot of arsses

The funny thing that I don't think anyone has mentioned here is that both of McCann's agents are former SMU wide receivers--Brian Berry and John Biggins. Biggins went on to law school and was a prosecutor in Denton for a while.

Asking a cop for his badge number what an idiot. These are the people who have the authority to take your freedom instantly. You play the game and stay free.

The freedom you are referring to left this country 100+ years ago.

Yea next time I come into US customs I'm going to ask for his or her badge too. After they've done an anal cavity search I'm going to say my civil rights were violated. LOL
