Press Release on New Ford Turf

Postby NickSMU17 » Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:42 pm

The cubs haven't won a world series since 1908, so maybe if they changed the colors to black and became the black cubs they would win.

Tradition is what binds us, you can make cool uniforms in a traditional motif.

That is not an apples to apples comparison because a professional franchise doesn't have to appeal to a young generation that is the bloodline of the franchise's continued success. Further, the Cubs are one of the iconic franchises. No need to screw with their brand. The fans will come. Teams that have no tradition, like the Rangers, tend to change their uniforms a bit more regularly. I doubt we will ever see the Yankees in anything but pinstripes.

June and staff are trying to hold on to our roots but build something new and fresh. They are trying to appeal to the "lost generation." I applaud it.

Press Release on New Ford Turf

You would be surprised at how alike the cubs and ponies are...

In fact the cubs really aren't that historic/iconic at all. The white sox outdrew the cubs until the strike in the 90s. Wrigley was a ghost town until that point. Ultimately there was a shift in the areas around the stadiums. Wrigley became surrounded by young artists and kids, which then became the trendy place to live. wrigleyville was a shtihole for many years. The area rebuilt the team not the other way around.

Neither team has won anything in the recent future, both have long traditions and history that will last long past the fair weather cub/espn and ponyfans that are out there now.

I for one am a fan of both and have been attending games when both teams were dog poop.

I have a lot of smu merchandise and love our colors and tradition, we can easily make cool UNis and other things while respecting the traditions that have been here or 100 years and will be for 100 years later.

Are you pointing out his black jersey that cost them a world series?

Not a baseball person but love seeing the cubs. If you have never been to a day game (I know u have nick), it's a must. Great time. Great city.

Is bartman still down in Florida?
