BR: SMU #9 receiving core

Postby The PonyGrad » Thu Apr 07, 2011 9:15 am

Front man Aldrick Robinson has left the Mustangs, but senior Cole Beasley, who led SMU with 87 catches, will easily fill his shoes.

Darius Johnson (pictured) was second on the team in catches as a sophomore and is ready to increase his sizable role in tandem with Beasley and dual-threat QB Kyle Padron.

Bradley Haynes, a senior, and Hayden Greenbauer, a redshirt freshman, will help fill the field when the nation's 21st-ranked passing game spreads out.

This offense featured a lot of young players, include Padron, and could hit its stride with bigger pass number this season.

So a possession receiver will easily fill the shoes of a big-play threat?

I think I saw Bobby Chase's name listed in this story.

This is the last time I ever read anything from this site.

It's really hilarious how bad BR is. It's like some guy at home at his computer asking his wife to read names at random off a team sheet while he creates his own video-game. No clue who plays where, and to compare Beez with Al is farcical, and I don't mean that as an insult to Beez, but he's just a totally different type of receiver.

I've been meaning to write a hard-hitting exposé about position changes this spring: Hayden Greenbauer to wide receiver, slimmed-down Josh LeRibeus to slot receiver, bulked-up Larry Centers, Jr., to nose tackle, long-armed Kyle Padron to defensive end, etc.

Now that Bleacher Report has beaten me to the punch, I guess there's no need. Glad to save the time.

There is another top notch journalism story there as well, ranking the Divison I football programs for next year. They have SMU at a healthy #92. The biggest news for the Mustangs this year is that Jordan Payton came for a visit. They also feel that with June Jones as head coach, we might be able to soon attract top QB and WR prospects...
