Mustangs at Cowboys' "Dallas Day"

The Dallas Cowboys are holding "Dallas Day" today. NFL rules permit teams to bring in a certain number of players they're considering as draft candidates on visits, sort of like the NCAA visits high school players take.

Beyond those players, NFL teams are allowed to host up to 30 (I think) players who played either college or high school football within the area for a one-day visit.

Word is there are several Mustangs in Valley Ranch today. The ones I have confirmed are CB Sterling Moore, LB Youri Yenga and P/K Matt Szymanski. There might be others (I have heard of at least one more) but I have not yet confirmed any more.

Not as fast, but Moore is a better playmaker than Scandrick could ever dream of being.
Then again, running in the 4.5s on Pro Day was better than I thought he could. It would be awesome to see two Mustangs in the same NFL secondary.

Matt Szymanski could push David Buehler for kicker. Couldnt do any worse!

Szymanski has a long way to go to convince people that he is consistent. We have all seen glimpses of his ability; however, maintaining that high level of kick offs, field goals or punting is his challenge. I know injuries played a role in his problems this year, but he was not that consistent last year. As a result, I think the jury is still out as to whether or not he can kick at the pro level.

Justin Smart was out there yesterday, too.

Szymanski has the kicking mechanics to be more accurate but doesn't have Buehler's leg strength. But with the NFL's decision to change the kickoffs from the 30-yard line to the 35, that could help Szymanski. Buehler led the NFL (I think) in touchbacks, but shorten the field on kickoffs by five yards, and that might limit Buehler's value a little.

he led in touchbacks in 2009, but he fell off in 2010. Either way, Buehler is not the draw he used to be as long as the Cowboys can avoid celebration penalties after touchdowns (unlikely).

Actually, Tiger does better when he focuses on more than one thing.
