New-look defense?

So Brandon Bonds and Brenk Karrington are supposed to get more playing time this weekend, as is Don Ieremia-Stansbury. What is it that TCU does it's blocking schemes that might allow them more success than they might have had against Tech? I know Tech runs that goofy alignment with the really wide splits between their blockers, but can someone break it down a little for me?

Despite the number of passing yards from TCU in their season opener they rushed for 157 yards. Last season TCU had a balanced attack with over 200 yards per game rushing.

I can see run stoppers rotated in on rushing downs and pass rushers in on passing downs. They are different skills.

Its great to finally have choices, depth and versatility. Berry and Karrington are equally comfortable at DT and DE. Previously only Adami could fall in that category. Now we have three. Go SMU

You're right! The depth and versatility of the defensive line is better than it's been since 1989. We'll need a bunch of fresh players in there this week.

And good point about Charlie Berry, hpfan - I thought he had a terrific game against Tech. As did Lucky DeLay and Desmond Jones.

Letterman Delay was great at relief. He has great energy. After his injury to be productive as he is is great news. I watched him chasing down a play however and its safe to say he is most comfortable in the 6-10 yard run department.

Good point about DeLay. When you think about the Achilles injury he had last year, and the stress that's put on the Achilles when playing DT, I think it's remarkable that he's even out there. And didn't I read somewhere that he led the defensive line (or was it the whole team?) in tackles? He was very impressive.

Somehow I have a hunch Brandon Bonds will come up with a really good game this weekend. We'll see.
